I'll be stuck in Nashville for 2 weeks

for job training from July 19th until August 1st. Ive never been there, have no idea where to start to look for cool shows or even things to do. Can anyone please advise of good clubs in the downtown area, or even cool bars to hang out? :twisted:

Clubs -
Asylum - Nashville community member ownership. Most always something cool going on there. Lots of cool bands play there too.
Saturday Goth dance night. Crowd is "mostly" Old Schoolers.
DJs Ricky & Ichabod, and other guests

Sundays - NV
Downtown on 2nd ave.
Nice club & Sound system. More of the younger crowd here. But still a bunch of the old schoolers show too. DJs Nephilim, and Jimmay.

If you go to NV pay to park in one of the parking garages as Nashville has Had a rash of cars broken into. I know of at least 3 people in the scene in the last year and 1/2 that have had their cars broken into downtown.

For late night food/coffee there is Cafe Coco (24 hour coffee house)

Check the Exit Inn for concert stuff as there is often some cool name acts playing there.

Stay Away from the White Castle drive throughs... They look like Krystal, but 3 times more evil to the intestinal track!!!!

If your a movie buff be sure to check whats playing at the I-Max movie theatre in Opry Mills Mall. Speaking of the mall if you dig coin-op Video games. Jullians in Opry Mills is a combo Arcade, bar, and bowling alley.

Check http://www.nashvillegothic.com for any local up to the minute happenings in nashville. Any of the people there on their forum will be happy to give you directions or what not to any of these places.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Check the News section of the NashvilleGothic forum. Everyone does a great job of keeping it updated.

As for special things, if you happen to make it there the weekend before your training starts.

Provision is playing at Asylum on July 17th. (Some of the band's songs are in the music section of the NG forum if you haven't heard them.)

Salvation Sundays (the weekly club night at NV) is having a special theme: Nympho's Desire on July 18th.

During your stay:
The Last Dance is playing at Asylum on July 23rd. I definitely recommend seeing this band if you haven't. They put on a great show. A few of us from Knoxville may be making the road trip over for this one.

I've always had a great time at the club nights at Asylum and NV both.
