black thumbs?

Post by Hardcoregirl »

So, anyone planning any fabulous gardens this spring?

And does anyone have an abundance of exotic seeds they'd like to share?

I have some datura seeds (I think) and some hyacinth bean vine seeds (pretty vine with big purple seed pods and pretty little purple and white blooms).

Cool, I'll put a few aside for you and try to remember the proper care for them...I know you need a stick, trellis or something for it to vine up...

I managed to kill my wandering jew (or creeping kike as my mom calls it, she's quite un-PC) so sure...its purty...

I have a large patio on my apartment and would love to turn it into a little sitting area with lovely dark plants and some seating for my friends. Anyone interested in a planting/decorating party at my place?

I am also planning on painting/decorating the interior of my apartment aswell. I would like suggestions on color usage and the such!

I would like to have a get together here too, and plant some stuff in the spring.

I need some pretty flowers :)

I can probably swing a dinner of some sort, and make sure you go home relatively happy :)

I also have some herb seeds if anyone is interested. I don't care enough to grow my own. Store bought is the way for me :)

I would love to have a nice little herb garden on my balcony.. I think that would be perfect! I can offer dinner and snacks to anyone who is interested in helping with re-decorating my apartment aswell.

I don't mind to help you paint or plant, and you don't have to feed me. (ibbie on the other hand may require nourishment)(i can live off my fat cells for at least a few weeks) ;)

I'm all up for it! Are you allowed to paint the walls, trim, etc.? If not, you could help the plain walls by hanging fabrics from ceiling to floor. If you are allowed to paint(and you like purple), it looks really great to have lavendarish-gray walls with really dark purple curtains. Big Lots has great prices on steel or iron candle-holders(their candles suck out the ass though, don't burn evenly).
I'd really have to see your apt. for many other ideas.
As far as plants go, can't help ya. I kill green things. Don't mean to, but I do.

I don't think there is enough coffee in the world to keep my mind straight. ;o) Perpetual morning sucks.

I can paint, and will be moving into a new 2 bedroom apartment around April 1st. So before everything gets inside would be the perfect time to paint. I was acctually thinking about a steelish purple for my bedroom. Great minds think alike. ;o)

I kill all things green. However, I planted a lavender garden at my mother's early fall last year. I planted 3 types, 3 plants each. One type did not survive, but I still have 6 plants that are flourishing. One type has gotten HUGE. They really didn't need much upkeep after they are planted except occasional weeding. I was very proud of myself for not killing them within a few weeks.

Tips, people. I need gardening tips.

I also have a brown thumb (slow death).
However, I have some cute little neglected stripey succulents (Cactus-like) that need to be seperated and re-potted. I'd like to give some away, or trade for other plants or booty (beads and fabric, not butt).

I also kill green things, which is why I rarely ever try to grow anything. On top of that, it's hard to find a plant that will flourish in my dark house(few windows) and, if I did find one, my cats would destroy it.

I think some lavender is rather hard to grow around her because it is pretty wet, and some types like dry..I think..not sure though...
We have a Lavender Festival in Oak Ridge on the third Saturday of June I think...but lavender makes me sneezy...

You have to give it good drainage. You build up the plot with rocks, then you put PLAIN soil over it . I put ours on a hill.

I like it because you can just run your hands over the leaves and get the scent all over you. That's without blooms.
