Thanxgiving

Do you hate spending time with your family? Do you wish there was something to do on Thanxgiving night? Maybe you don't have any family in the area?

We are going to be having our 3rd annual Thanxgiving party. This has proven to be a wonderful time! All food that is made is from 15th century recipes. I'll post a menu as soon as I get it figured out. Rest assured, there will be plenty of mulled wine.

Do to the car accident that I was involved in, I'll ask for those attending to donate toward the cost of the food(15th century style food can be very expensive), BUT, I don't want anyone to miss out if you can't afford to donate! If you can't, come anyway!!!

When: Thanxgiving night
Time: 8pm til ???
Where: LadyIvanna & Redmonger's house (PM me if you need directions)
Food: Provided
Beverage: BYOB (I will have the mulled wine, coffee & water....if you would like something else to drink, please bring it)

PLEASE R.S.V.P. so that I can plan on how much food to make!

BTW, this is NOT a midget friendly party!!!

I was wondering if you'd be feeling up to it this year. I'd love to come, but we do a family thing over here for Turkey Day, otherwise I'd be there. It's such a generous thing for you & Redmonger to do. Enjoy your holiday feast!

Usually I'm in NY for Thanksgiving, bu this year I can't take the chance of missing any income from computer work, so I'll be here in TN. I'd like to come to this and I'd be happy to help out with some money toward the feast and also I'm very handy in the kitchen if you need help preparing the food. I'll be in touch as the day gets closer. Glad to hear you're feeling up to it!

Hrmm.. I'm thinking I'd like to attend, if I can wriggle out of family time.. Maybe I'll see them the day before or something. I'm not terribly efficient in the kitchen.. take up too much space

But if you need help with preparations, moving furniture or anything of the sort, I'd be happy to come early and help out.

You are correct on the apple tarts and custard pie.

If Thor has to work, will this mean you will be alone???? If so, we'll find a way to get you here if you want to come. Of course, we will gladly save some leftovers for him & both of you if you can't come.

Champignons en paste = Cheese & Mushroom Pasty. *thoughts of last Sanctus surfacing*

Brawune fryez = Fried meat. Probably with some degree of breading, and as an appetizer, probably small morsels. Given American bias, I'd presume beef, but any red meat is acceptible in the translation.

Rastons = Sounding like a real treat, are apparently breads which have had the top crust removed, the insides scooped out creating somewhat of a bread bowl.. with the inner bread crumbled, fried with spices or other ingrediants, and then replaced, with the tops placed back on for presentation. Alot of work no doubt, but sounding incredibly tasty!

Blank Desure= A soup made of eggs, cheese, and milk.. thus presumably being white in appearance, given the name.

Oystres in cevey= Oysters in wine sauce. Pardon, but I think I'll be sitting that one out

Bourbelier de sanglier = Pork loin roast.. Yummy!

Hennys in Bruet = Chicken in Cumin Sauce.. Or Cumin seasoned Chicken in an ale based sauce.. Depending on which interpretation of the original dish is prepared.

Isfanakh Mutajjan = Spinach, lightly cooked and seasoned to taste.

Rapum Armatum = Armored Turnips.. A layered pan-baked dish of turnips sliced thin and cheese.

Frumenty = Sweet spiced porridge. Traditionally served with venison, but given the difficulty in acquirig such a delicacy, I think we'll all be quite thrilled to experience it with the pork mentioned above.. MMM.. Pork..

Tartys in Applis = Apple Tarts.. mentioned already

Doucetes = Cream Custard Tarts Or custard pie, as mentioned

Bolas = Sweet Rolls, a Hungarian dish if I'm correct.

Well, that took a little bit, but there's the spoiler for all inquisitive minds.

Well, by 'googling' the dishes, you completely spoiled the fun of anyone actually utilizing their brain to try and figure things out. However, Google is not 'god' and you were wrong on a few counts.

Loin of Pork in Boar's Tail Sauce
Chicken in cumin sauce

Barley cooking in chicken broth......is NOT sweet whatsoever!

I was curious, bored, and used the tools available to me. *sniffs* Ya don't have to resort to name calling..
