JC should love this one.

Read the user comments down the page.... good for a laugh.

And when you are done there and need a drink, you boozehounds will like this stuff... (again I'm thinking JC) Includes 636 ways to say "drunk."

Lol! Very nice. Did anyone else read "Flash is evil"? I agree with that one. Flash sites are slow, annoying, and hard to navigate. HTML is much better, and a little CSS to make it more interesting is far better than full screen blinking things.

Flash is evil. And you know I've got a broadband connection.
We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

56 dial up. :-(

Being slow isn't my main problem with flash though. (trust me, everything is slow on my connection, and I had DSL a few years ago and still hated flash.) You can't right click or highlight anything, which I do a lot. You can't bookmark right. The back button is useless. And all the movement is just plain annoying. That article summed it up pretty well.

Bah. Flash is only evil when it's used when it shouldn't be. It's an animation tool. People just keep using it as a replacement technology.

It shouldn't be used in place of an XHTML compliant web page.

It shouldn't be used in place of a gif or png (or for animation, an mng).

It shouldn't be used in place of server side includes. This is a big, big problem.

It should most definitely not be used in place of a good php or perl script. This is a big problem, as well. A good program written in php, perl, or hell, even C takes a lot less load from the user and less bandwidth from the server.

And it's the server we're really worried about, isn't it? The lusers can go burn, as long as the server remains stable.

And most importantly, it should never be used just to yell "Hey! We know Flash!" at users. We're not impressed.

It is a viable alternative to the mpg / wmv / avi formats, and of all those formats, only it can take directives from another program or XML file.

And it is, of course, a better medium for games and toys than Java. Because, even more than Flash, Java is evil. =P
