Yes I agree, I don't force my opinions on anyone, not on purpose anyways and yeah like you I'm Christian and proud of it and once I'm abel to get out I'm realy excited to make new friends christian and noneQueenOfTheFlock wrote:Christian reporting in! Yep, that's right...I'm one of "them" and proud of it. BUT I won't ever force my views or opinions on anyone else. As I've always told all my friends (regardless of religion), it's much too personal of a decision for me to chastise anyone's opinion.

You should come to coffee at 11th Street this coming Friday...I'll be there (provided I don't kill myself after this election ends) and I'd like to meet you.

I have to disagree with you strongly. I am not a christian, but I probably know more dark and spooky christians than I do pagans.
I don't see how christian and gothic are oxymorons whatsoever. The lifestyle doesn't revolve around religion really. Its more about fashion and music and looking at the darker side...which without there being a darker side, how can there be a lighter side?
Catholicism is very goff.
Paradise Lost, Dante's Inferno, and lots of other literature are along a gothic vein, IMO.
So, yeah...I'm sure you will find lots of your kind, not neccessarily fundamentalist Xtians however.
The founders of the site which may not be named for example, are both active in their church.
The seperation of Church & Culture works, sadly, much better that the seperation of Church & State. Goth is about things dark, morbid, & macabre...BUT...so are most things X-tian. I am not a X-tian, nor Pagan, nor anything else...I am a collections of Ideals, Thoughts, Beliefs, & Dogma, but above all I am NOT an iconoclast. Feel free in who you are, Immortal, & live as you want. Don't bother with the titles, bother with the nature. I understand the point of your topic...I read you post carfully. The point of this quote of Buttercup's is not to argue, but to debate, friendly, mind you, the points that seperate X-ianity, with all things "Goth". Most of you probably well know the roots of "Goth" are "Punk". Goths started as the Outsiders of the outcast. Punks are by nature Iconoclasts, & X-ianity is about as iconic as it gets (Most organized religions are). That is where seperation comes in. As Gothic culture became more, & more morbid & dark, it took on the demeanor of "evil"...the antithisis of everything Xianity revokes. So while it is possable to be both, it becomes very hard to be accepted by either. Goths don't want you because you are X-tian, & the Church doesn't want you cause you're Goth. That's a strange exception here...the Buckel of the Bible Belt. The Goths don't care...most people are OK with who you are around here...that's why I love it here.
Sorry for the Rant....
PS: JC...I love you!!!!!!!

Hey
I moved to Gatlinburg from Tampa about 5 years ago..i am a christian..and i am a goth..hey my maiden name is even Goff..lol. I have been searching for the others like myself in knoxville for quite sometime..we were plentiful in Tampa but here its like you have to find the speakeasy and give the secret password to find any!
I attend [and am a leader in] a non-denominational church, no suits no ties, no dresses, unless you really want to..where the focus is on relationship and not dead religion. Anyway..-raises hand- here's another one fer ya.

Then you are another that I would love to meet. If you can, come out to 11th Street Expresso House this coming Friday.
