"Some Say ICP Fans Part of a Religious Cult"

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Okay, I've got to get this off my chest...

Faygo soda pop was cool long, long before ICP existed.

Actually, it was even cooler before they existed, because it was cheap as hell, having not been promoted worth a shit.

Goddamn it.

Hats off to Faygo red pop.

I remeber when I first heard of ICP. I was over at rec|use's house and this commercial came on promoting an album. It had that "chicken hunting" song on it. It looked ridiculous to me then and it still does. Hey I don't care like what you want but, in my opinion ICP doesn't make music they make marketing strategies.

I know..in my opinion any band that needs a gimmick like clown makeup or masks (slipknot) etc, is more for show and less about the music.

Why does it feel like I am being targeted now, maybe because I like masks and make-up?

So let me get this straight. People don't like ICP because it is rap and they wear clown make-up and Slipknot is disliked because they wear masks and are not the normal brand of metal. You know what? You are intitled to your opinions. But let me say this. I guarantee that every last one of you listen to something that is hated by someone else and probably looked down upon for it. Maybe not by people in this scene but the normals sure ass hell do. Spout all the bullshit you want about a whatever. You still have that right. But it doesn't make you right.

Being theatrical does not neccessarily point to a lapse in musical taste. Look at oprea for cryi yi yi threatrical as bleeding hell and yet recognized among the snooty classes as a higher form of music.

Theatricality allows the listenter to percieve a larger form of art. It's not just listening to the albums or the mp3's it's about an experience. I can relate to this rhough another another much looked down upon band Marilyn Manson. Going to their shows had feeling of going something larger, something all encomposing. Even if it was just for a few hours.

Plus the vast majority of musicians participate in stage theatrics of some sort. Normally it's regulated to "Can you feel us right now?" NO I COULDN"T HEAR YOU CAN YOU REALLY FEEL US RIGHT NOW!!!" It's just old tricks to get the paying something audience more then just what they could hear on the records.

I have no problem with theatrics don't misunderstand. It's simply I dislike ICP's music. I think it is formulaic mind numbing tripe specifically marketed toward youths with anger management problems. I feel the same way about Slipknot. But hey if you like it more power to you. It's just not my thing. *shrugs*

No, I think most people don't like ICP because they have a lot of songs that are like "fuck you bitch, I'll stab you in the eye, make you cry, eat your baby and cocksmack your man til he dies, I don't know why, CAUSE WE JUST DON'T GIVE A FUCK! (what he say?) CAUSE WE ALL DRIVE MONSTER TRUCKS! (that the juggallo way!)". etc.

and Slipknot is disliked because they wear masks and are not the normal brand of metal.

I think most people dislike Slipknot because they are very bad at being a "metal" band. I mean, Christ, the japanese band Mono has heavier songs than them.

You know what? You are intitled to your opinions. But let me say this. I guarantee that every last one of you listen to something that is hated by someone else

Yes, but Mogwai fans don't go around making a big deal about being Mogwai fans. I'm not like, all "pimped out" in Rock Action gear and going "Like Herod, bitches!"

Maybe not by people in this scene but the normals sure ass hell do.

The "normals" probably have never heard of 90% of the music I listen to.

How is discussing music= drama?

Can people not agree to disagree and it not be drama?

I don't care in the least bit if you like ICP or Slipknot, believe me, its not keeping me up at night. Sorry juggalos, you are vastly overestimating your importance in my life or in the grand scheme of knoxgothdom...lol.

I just expressed my opinions and everyone else has too. I think its been an interesting thread.

I don't like ICP or Slipknot or the majority of juggalos or maggots I've met, but who cares? My opinion isn't the final word or anything, geez.

I see no problem in people discussing how they feel about music, we all have different opinions thank god.

I for one, LOVE Jimmy Buffett and I don't care who knows it. You could say the majority of his fans are drunks, rednecks in cut offs with mullets , or whatever, and I'd probably agree with you. But, I was raised on the shit, and its not goth in the least bit. I'm not ashamed. Go ahead and tell me how lame you think it is, I'm not gonna get pissy or fucking cry about it.
