New From Sevierville
Hi. I am Heather..,18 from sevierville.. I have been thinking about coming to sanctus for some time now, because i have a friend that goes alot and seems to really enjoy it.. although we have diffrent taste somewhat .. the past few days i have been coming to the site and reading and you all seem very real and down to earth. but i do have one question. What exactly does Sanctus mean? i know you go there to dance and meet and have fun but is there a meaning beheind it? That goes for temple as well??? I guess what i am trying to say is what do the words (sanctus&temple) stand for. I am not what you would exactly call a goth i am more alternative , punk but dont get me wrong i love the goth style and you all wear it well from the photos i seen(lol). i am sure i would blend in.. I just would like to know the meaning that goes with this ya know i guess so i know what i am going to and what i should expect of it.. i have never been to anything like this before.. if you could give me some awnsers it would be great .....
Don't judge & you won't be judge.....
I guess I'll be the first to say hello...so...'Yo'...
I don't if there are any hidden agandas or such behind Sanctus, & Temple...Tat2Jay & Dark Vader are just two guys that wanna dance...lol...Ever seen Party Monster...It's kind like that, without the drugs...Well, most of the time...
BTW, 'Sanctus', means "Safe Man"...Don't ask me...I didn't make it up...Ask Vader about that one...Temple...*shrug*

Sanctus... from the latin for sanctuary or sacred place.
Temple obviously has similar connotations. Both refer to the sacred nature of gathering with like-minded individuals to imbibe, socialize, & of course... DANCE! No, we're not a cult, but yes, we kinda sound like it to outsiders.
Sanctus is more of a strictly goth night, though it always has many nongoth elements. It's the communities longest running event in recent years. There are 3 core DJs that spin each month, with occasional guest DJ spots available.
Temple is more of an alternative dance night where the DJ rotation is much more greatly varied, therefore the types of music you hear will reflect this variety. Temple is smaller, but more frequent (once a week instaed of once a month).
We all love them both & all the individuals who work tirelessly to promote them & make them the magical experiences they both are. I predict you'll enjoy them too. Come try both & see!
Salutations, btw! I'm Mo & you're likely to find me on the dance floor.

Change how you see, not how you look.

First off let me say welcome to the madhouse!!!!
Now, let me tell you a little bit about the History of Sanctus's name.
Sanctus started out as just a one time halloween party with no name, thrown by Arkady, DarkVader, and Myself. Turnout was good and we decidied to throw another one the next month. Turn out was even better, and the owners of the club we were "renting" for the night asked us if we wanted to do it monthly. We agreed. We needed a name for the night to set it apart from the club itself (we were still renting the space for the night). We started a contest to name the night. We took our favorite top 5 or so club names that were submitted, then let the KG community vote on em. Sanctus was the hands down winner.
Mother Mo gave the latin translation earlier in this thread. That was what took to the people I believe. You see there was NO club night for about a year when we threw that first party. Sanctus was a party where we could revel in our "Gothdom" strut our stuff, show off our fashion, and dance how we like to dance without being harrassed by "the normals".
The name just fit... Several years later, IMHO it still does.
There is no religious significance behind it!
Hope that helps, and hope to see you out at both Sanctus and Temple!
