A Journey In the Mind
A bit left of Carthage
And somewhere to the right of Sumer and Babylon
Lies a place once named Ninevah
A land of night and velvet salty air.
A land of bloody conquest and sweet submission
But beyond that territory
Somwhere hidden deep in the heart of Eire
Lies Avalon
and a moon's worth of honey mead.

Untitled
Years since my discovery and the costumes still amaze me.
The intricacy and hard labor
that we put into a convincing disguise.
The longer we work
The more easily they fall apart.
It takes but just a touch.
The ones most durable
are those which hide nothing
But merely put certain qualities on display.

The Sometimes Path
A Tragic Beauty and a Dark Prince
walk hand in hand down a path.
A Stromph and a Koala follow close behind.

They aren't quite sure where the path ends,
or even where it began.

Sometimes they aren't sure if it ever really began
or even that it has an end.
Only that they must walk it.
Or stumble through it in the case of the Stromph.

Sometimes it is so hot.
They strip to their souls to bare the heat.
Others so cold they huddle so close
They forget where they end and the others begin.

Sometimes it's stormy and dark
Sometimes Sunny and bright.

Sometimes the path is rocky and their feet leave trails of Crimson.
Sometimes it is so smooth they slide along.

The only constant they have to sustain themselves
is the Agonizing Carnival of the Cackling Fates.[/u]

Beautiful imagery. Very nice.
Change how you see, not how you look.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's always appreciated. I kind of worry about Journey into the Mind as I was using places to symolize my feelings and the emotional turmoil I was going through at the time and I've often thought it came out far too vague and esoteric but I think in the end it's one of the few poems of my own that I actually really enjoy. Most of the time I consider my poetry to be mindless drivel when I reread it, but that one still manages to touch me. So it's nice to hear I'm not the only one who enjoyed it.
