New door $$ for Temple

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

I love Temple because of the people who continue to come out, even if it is $5. I urge those who are able to continue to look for a better venue. How great would it be if we actually had our own club, and everyone's weekly $6 (!) and drink/food profits went to paying the mortgage and the overhead, with the difference paid by the title holder(s)?

I do find myself comparing the $5 Sanctus experience to the current $5 Temple experience, and of course there is no comparison, but at its height of glory, Temple was easily worth $5 and we only had to pay $3. So, rather than bemoan the price, I ask the following: how can we improve the club situation so that the money is going to the actual promoters or being invested back into the night rather than going the building owners and their DJs/entertainers?

Is there any way we can make the current locale and event WORTH the $5 they are charging? Shadow boxes and air conditioning would be a good start. One night there was finger food and dip, and that was awesome. What are your ideas?

The ones who really suffer here are the bartenders. I always tip, every drink, but I tip extra if I have singles. So, that extra $1 or $2 at the door comes right out of the bartender's pocket. Sorry, ladies....

Don't you have writing to do? ;)

I like to tip as I buy, it's more friendly that way and the 'tender knows s/he is appreciated. I'm NOT saying that, because the door costs more I am being more stingy with tips; I AM saying that the amount of money I bring and leave with is the same, so the dollar will go to the door or the tip. I tip $1 for that glass of ice I get near the end of the night if the $1 is there. Otherwise, it feels like I am just bugging the 'tender for ice when there's already free water there.

The door charge didn't bother me.

There were a few things that made me dislike my night out, but it's not like anything can be done about them besides changing venues, so I'm not going to bitch about them.

Don't get me wrong, everything that the Temple team (hey, that sounds cool, kinda like the A-Team) did and put forth, I liked, as always.

But the venue specific... bleh. Anyway, I said I wouldn't bitch. I was mostly right. ;)
