Greetings,

Iâ€™ve resently moved back to the area after a few years absence.

I canâ€™t claim to be legitimately Goth but I do admire the fashion and the music.

So what I can claim to legitimately be â€¦
-a small sort of girl with frizzy hair that I often put up in two buns on the top of my head.
-studying to be an astrophysicist
-a fan of NIN, Rush, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, the Mothers of Invention, Garbage, King Crimson and most of the 80's synth bands.
-annoyed with the religious right on general principles and amused by the UT street preacher because he has labeled me a â€œClinton Era Whoreâ€

We usually have a table of regulars right off the dance floor & you're more than welcome to join us, though we are usually on the dance floor dancing as much, if not more, than anything else. Fallen also makes an excellent white knight. Come see us!

Some of us are harder to find than others...Fallen should be easy to find...You can ask just about anyone there, & they should be able to point him out for you...

Speaking as one of those shy new people, that's much easier said than done especially amongst a subculture so notoriously judgemental as the goth subculture. Humans have a natural desire to fit in even if only among other "outcasts" like themselves. The problem with that is amongst such a group of individualistic and strongly opinionated people, everyone has a different idea of just what goth is, and a few people are very willing to vocalize their opinions strongly and adamantly. Now, I'm not saying that anyone here is like that, so far all I've received here is a warm welcome and acceptance, but that only eases ones fears a bit. Fears tend to be a bit irrational like that. I'm personally of the mind that if you feel goth, even a little, you're a goth, and I have no truck with that dreaded "p" word and typically try to avoid those who do, which thankfully it's not a word I've seen uttered here and I've been paying close attention. Also, I don't know about anyone else but I personally feel like a total buffoon introducing myself to strangers and finding all my normally endless supply of conversation scattering away into the atmosphere (as with many things about me my extroversion is a trait permanently under construction).

Anyways, before I got derailed on one of my infamous rambling tangents, my original purpose was to say, if you're going to be at tomorrow's Sanctus (and I'm sure many here would love to see you there, I know I would at least) and might feel a little less nervous introducing yourself to another shy and nervous newcomer than someone whose been around for a while, look for the rather tall spindly guy in the Hellraiserish trenchcoat (I decided to wear it anyways, warm weather bedamned, it's currently my favorite article of clothing) who is clinging desperately to his two best friends (a hispanic female in a salsa style dress and grungish type caucasion male wearing who knows what) I promise I'll try not to be too shy and nervous in return and perhaps we can lend each other strength.

First off, welcome to the forum ryng.

If you get out early enough, there is a group meeting for low key conversation, food and drinks before Sanctus at Pat Sullivan's (just down the street from Blue Cats) around 8 PM. Feel free to join as the invitation is extended to anyone who wishes to attend. See the general forum for the captain's post on the move from Urban for more information. Its a good place to actually talk to some of the people who will be at the night without having to raise voices over music.

Otherwise, we can be a very friendly group. The Knoxville "goth scene" is very different than any other goth scene that I've been around, and to use an old quote, "Its not a good thing; its not a bad thing. Its just a thing."

Last but not least, LustfulElf, is that the hellraiser jacket made by Shrine? Whether it is or isn't, I've always admired the Shrine version of that jacket, but I don't think that I've seen any other versions of that jacket in person.

Thanks for the reassurance about PSâ€™s -I saw that on the postings and I did not know if it was for all or a specific group of friends. I'm not sure if I can get away from my day job life as early as 8 but I'll try as that sound like a much easier environment to a truly meet people in than one ringing with 150 beats per min.

My apologies, I just realized my last post here was very curt and brief and might have come off as rude. I didn't mean it that way, but I was still quite drunk when i wrote it. See, before I went out to Sanctus last night I was invited out for some beers with my co-workers. I figured what they hell, I might as well get an early start on things. I didn't factor in that I had nothing in my stomach at all as I don't eat before work and just hadn'ted bothered to eat at work. Nor that my co-workers would keep buying me drinks which I would then have to drink as it'd be rude not to. So when I got to my house around 5:45 I was already plastered and really didn't sober up until the car ride to Blue Cats. And yet I just couldn't bring myself to NOT reply to a question about jackets even though I could barely keep my fingers on home row long enough to type what little I did say. So, allow me to try that again. The Jacket is made by Tripp. I just happened to see it at Hot Topic after finishing up my christmas shopping and it was love at first sight. So, since I still had a decent amount of money in my christmas fund and no one left to spend it on I decided it wouldn't be overly selfish to buy myself a christmas present. Though until Sunday I hadn't had a chance to wear it any place more glamourous than the mall I'm afraid and I have to say I loved every second of it, though after a few minutes on the dance floor as much as I hated to part with it it had to come off. At least until I cooled off enough that I had no fear of bursting into flames. There, now I think I've rambled enough to more than make up for my lack of verbosity in my last post.

Yes, I saw it at Sanctus. Nice jacket

I've seen pics of it, but never actually seen the Tripp version in person until then. Its been way too long since I've spent time shopping in a store for clothes rather than on the internet. The malls aren't a place I frequent, so I rarely make it to Hot Topic. Sorry that I didn't get a chance to say hello at Sanctus. I was running in different directions that night everytime I saw you. Hope you had a good time out.

Although there's so much neat stuff on the internet, I just feel it's so impersonal. I love interacting with people, even though I'm so shy until I get to know people. But I have to admit only a few things at Hot Topic are really my style. Like, although I love the way they look I just couldn't see myself in all the baggy denim type pants they sell there. So I'm very excited about this new store that's opening and hope to visit it soon, from what I saw at Sanctus I think it'll be much closer to my tastes than anything I can find at the mall. As far as not saying Hi, it's not a problem, it's not like I really went out of my way to introduce myself to anyone either, so I certainly can't blame anyone for not returning the ungiven favor, besides I'm hoping I'll be out and about more often in the near future, so hopefully we'll have another chance to meet. And as for having fun, I really had a ball. Even my friend Mikie who normally detests any sort of club and spends the whole night with his nose in a book on the few occasions he's agreed to go had a great time. And boy did he surprise the hell out of me by wearing what he did, he's normally all grunge and/or punkish when he goes out, but Sunday he decided to wear one of his Vampire: tm outfits much to my amusement. As a result for some unexplainable reason I couldn't get The Cure out of my head all night long.
