IMPORTANT!!! Rumor Control - Fairbanks & Sanctus

Post by Arkady »

Some of you may have heard a rumor that Fairbanks Roasting Room is closing. While there is very little information as of yet to pass on I wanted to go ahead and list what is known at this time.

Here's what is known:

1. Fairbanks is *not closing* but rather is in the process of moving to a new venue at an as yet undisclosed location.

2. As we understand it. Sanctus *WILL* be affected by this move.

3. We are still planning on holding Sanctus as usual in June but not at Fairbanks. We will announce the alternative venue as soon as as we can.

4. We will be updateing this thread as news becomes available.

I know this is very sudden and we apologise. We just found out about this today. Please keep posted for more information.

I had a thought. Maybe you all will like it and maybe not, maybe you've already made other arrangements, I don't know. But I used to date the niece of the catering coordinator at the Lord Lindsey, and we're still on really good terms. She said we could probably get a deal up at their Medieval Hall, which I think would be an ideal setting for the next Sanctus. Far better, dare I say it, than even the venerable old Fairbanks restraurant. I was told that they used to charge about five hundred for a private party, but for a club night I'm sure an agreement of some sort could be reached that would be more reasonable, especially if KG management hung on to the admission and bar totals garnered during soirees of old. Worth looking into?

All I ask for is adequate tables and chairs, sofas, recliners, daybeds, maybe a jacuzzi...

The LL thing sounds cool to me, i mean half of us dress up medievil anyway so it would be fitting in my opinion.

Bah. DarkVader made a point today that I really have to agree with. The Medieval Hall most likely would be a little small for the usual Sanctus turnout, plus it wouldn't have an adequate sound and light system.

The mansion, however, would be ideal in my humble opinion, and I've spoken to several who agree. Problem with that is the cost, of course, but I wouldn't mind throwing out an extra five bucks or whatever to get Sanctified at a ritzy place like that. There'd be more than enough room, and I'm sure their systems would be up to the task. Mostly, anyway.

That's my two cents, although I'm sure the fine folks up at KGB headquarters are brewing up some exotic locales of their own. Just trying to help.

Oh, yeah. And I totally second the Fallen's nomination for couches! That was my only complaint up at Fairbanks because of my bad lower back. I wanted to pack up a couch from home and bring it along.

I wouldn't complain about a jacuzzi, either.

Well then, make it happen, Cap'n.

That's right, Ms. Libby, the most innocent cat in the alley. By the by, I just spoke with my ex again, who was also the captain at the majority of the Lord Lindsey's parties throughout last year, and she corrected herself; the mansion costs five hundred a night, not the Medieval Hall, which is a lot less than I thought it would be. I know they don't normally have a club night or anything on Sunday nights, although they do have wedding receptions pretty regularly, especially in the month of June, so if it were going to be retained this month it'd have to happen soon.

I don't want to come off like I think I'm the decision-making entity for KnoxGothic or anything, but if the KGB is interested in having a Sanctus at the Lord Lindsey mansion I could talk to the lady who makes those decisions; I had Christmas dinner at her home once so it wouldn't be all that awkward. I'd just need the appropriate figures and facts. I've heard that relations with Harold may not be as pristine as everyone would like, but the people who ran Fiction for him are most certainly not the parties who make arrangements for the Lord Lindsey, and with proper subtlety I think it just might work. Again, assuming the KG budget and profits would mesh well with the cost of a private party, but if an agreement were made for it to be a regular thing and past receipts were presented I think it would work out splendidly. I'd also need to know what we'd require from them; bartending, catering, electronic accomodations, et cetera.

I'm just a little paranoid about the loss of Fairbanks. I need my monthly Sanctus!
