In general. Pro? Con?

I personally almost hate all types. For some reason people that seem to get too involved with it loose their damned minds.

When Tennessee loses a game, *EVERYBODY* I work with comes in sulking, moaning, and bitching about how much the game sucked, and how they couldn't watch anymore, and how blah blah blah blah blahty blah. And it's not just my co-workers, every damn-one comes in and it becomes a conversation piece. After about the 50th time, I'm ready to vomit on the next person wearing orange.

I'm sorry, I can't hold any attention or sympathy to the damned TV for that long to care. I just don't get it.

Ok, so yeah, Tennessee sucks but...

when I was a kid I was the most unathletic person EVER. Always the last one picked, didn't give a fuck, etc.

But, I come from a family of jocks. My dad, uncle and two aunts on that side all played basketball and football. And I had an uncle who would play basketball with us outside after we were done swimming in the pool and I learned how much fun sports can be when they don't matter, not for money or status, just for fun of the game.

I dunno, I can find football, basketball and soccer entertaining at times....but I pretty much pay no attention.

If only billiards were considered a sport...

I never really cared either way about sports until I moved here...and then I realized how much I hate football...and orange.

I use to work in this doctors office and one of the docs would get so so soooo unbelievable mad when UT lost. When drug reps came in we had to warn them not to mention ANYTHING about the game. Once, one of them did on accident...just kinda a casual "Man, that was a tough game." type thing...and they were never allowed back. I am totally not joking. His office was completely covered with UT football shit...and he had a postersize signed picture of Fulmer on his wall. It was fucking scarey.

I personally love all kinds of sports,my favs being in no real order grappling, mma, boxing anything that takes place in the confines of a ring/6 sided cage, autoracing, hockey, baseball and football.I feel for those that dont understand the UT thing yes some folks take it a bit far but you have to understand that folks see the tennessee name on it and they take pride that they are from here so really UT football is a safe way to show that our state is better than a florida or a alabama or a georgia.Personally i dont really give two hoots about college sports they do offer somebody a chance to go to college for free who otherwise probley wouldnt get to go and thats always good. But yes to me sports are good

I hate basketball...with a passion...

However, I fucking love sports. Then again I love any form of competition.

Top 5 sports IMO...No particular order.

1. Rugby
2. Boxing
3. UFC or any Martial Arts competitions
4. Baseball...I've seen probably 50 games in stadium...
5. Tennis

Each to his or her own. I occasionally watch some college and/or professional football, but it isn't the be-all and end-all of my exsistence.

When my son was younger, he played baseball with one of the local leagues. It was sooo political and based on who you knew or who you were and not what your skill level was that we pulled him out. Plus, some parents become raving lunatics when their child is on the field that it really becomes scary. I'm just glad he decided that music was his thing and didn't become a jock.

I do participate in martial arts, specifically Kung Fu, but can you really consider it a sport? There are tournaments, but I enter for my own personal satisfaction and to test my skills against others to find out where I need to improve, not to win medals and trophys.

I'm not a sports person and never have been. I can watch it if I have to, but I'd much rather find an interesting book to read.

It depends on the sport whether I care or not. I enjoy watching some, but it isn't going to make or break my day if they don't turn out the way that I want them too.

The only pro sport that I'm really into is ice hockey. I've been a Rangers fan for a long time.

I used to run track and cross country in high school, so I still enjoy watching some of the collegiate meets as well as the Olympic events.

The Winter X type games will usually attract my attention. I love going skiing, but having not been enough times to make it down the black slopes yet without busting my ass, I have a great deal of respect for the people that can. The snowboarders are always cool to watch too.

Football can be entertaining to me if it is collegiate, but pro football has never been something that I've kept up with.

Basketball and baseball are two sports that I could never get into.

Golf was the latest sport that I attempted. We went to a driving range and did a whole lot more laughing than we ever did successfully hitting the ball. I think I'll stick with mini-golf instead.

A good friend of mine coaches soccer for one of the children's league teams. I have heard some truly disturbing stories about some of the parents. It is amazing to me what some of them think that they are teaching their kids by their actions.

It's the attitude of "win at all costs" that truly disturbs me. Parents yelling and screaming at their kids when they strike out or don't make the game winning touch down. Verbally or physically abusing coaches and officials when the game doesn't go their way. It's absurd.

We tried to teach our son that winning isn't everything, how you play the game and if you give it your best effort is all that counts. I believe that lesson found fertile ground.

I try to stress that they start the games with "play ball" not "the rest of your life depends on the outcome of this". People need to realize that the outcome of a sporting event doesn't equate to life and death situations.

Australian Rules Football!

Footie is the bomb!! Any sport where you run full tilt down the field dribbling an oversized rugby ball gets my vote as well as the refs, damned snappy dressers.

i am -horrible- at sports. I was on the softball team in 10th grade (private school..i think i lost my mind that year) and all i did was stand out in the field and watch the birds..watch people over on the playground..it was torture. I try to throw the football with my husband and kids sometimes but i usually end up crying about something. I'm a wuss really. As for watching..ugh..god its boring. Except for this fighting thing Brian watches sometimes..thats pretty cool.
I dont know what its called but they really do kick eachother's asses..all..maleness and blood and..rawr.

UFC is my guess... I plan on starting training for that kinda stuff in about a year. Classes are nowhere near cheap.

but by that token, that would make doing push ups, sit ups, or jazzercise a sport.

kung fu is exercise - definitely. but kung fu is not a sport.

... unless, of course, you practice in a wushu style and/or school. wushu is a sport. actually, i'd say wushu is closer to dance, but some people consider that a sport as well. weird.

but i won't go into that on here. (or anywhere, unless someone buys me a lot of drinks and asks.)

As far as U.T. football is concerned, I personally think Knoxville would be a better place if Neyland Stadium burned to the ground. If you aren't a football fan and you have to deal with game day traffic in Knoxville, I'm sure you know where I'm coming from.
People are fucking fanatical over the shit, and it's ridiculous. In my experience it would seem a lot of the fans are ignorant, shallow, and extremely under cultured. If the Vols lose a game, that is all you are going to hear from them all week.
Any game they play I hope they lose. Maybe if a few years go by where they totally suck people will lose interest and hop off the bandwagon and find something else to do.
