Wasn't knocking you, just don't believe you can be both pagan and Christian. I am pagan. Plain, simple garden variety witch. "shrug", but if it floats your boat..........go for it.

each Church has a slightly different sunday schedule, but it usually goes like this:
8:30 am, 10 am, 11:30 am, and 6pm. this is schedule for my church Holy Ghost Catholic, on central. we had the very first swap meet here, and Father Mankel was very gracious and he knew exactly who was having the swap meet. of course, i will tell you, the Catholic faith will embrace anyone with open arms, but it is not very kind to mock after being accepted unconditionally.

yes, there are many hypocrites, but there are some of us who truly believe and strive to be good people. although, no matter how kind i am to others, i ALWAYS get stabbed in the back, and religion (or lack there of) has never seemed to matter. yet, i still try to be kind to others and may be that makes me naive, but thats OK. at least i know in my soul that i am kind and compassionate..

Hmm, Goth Christian Church. Heh, was Jesus on the cross as a vampire? In a cape, little fangs, eyeliner? hehe Maybe he had some nylons? A kilt? Some steel toed boots? hehe

No seriously, in my expierence, any time you get a bunch of people together that share somewhat similiar ideas about how to live life, it ends up to where everyone's following the most popular kid/person/kids/people in the group. They end up depending on the idol kid's/kids'/person's/people's ideas and not their own anymore. I think organized religion is a bad thing. Waste of time and creativity. You can believe whatever you want, worship as many Gods?God/Goddesses/Godess or not worship any when you are alone about it.

Congregation sounds like group theropy to me. Might work for some, but, the ones I've seen it work on, I don't want to be like. Just my two cents. If it makes you happy do it...just make sure you are making yourself happy and not the ones around you who you see twice a week.
Yes, I have wished you were dead. You are just another face in the crowd, someone who brings me suffering, someone I truely hate.

I can see it. The Hindu tradition & the Qabalah are both forms of monotheistic polytheism or vice versa. The whole one equalling the many equaling the one kinda thing. There's lots of people today who are evolving multiple expressions of faith & then adopting parts of the ones they like best & combining them with other expressions that do it for them. Technically this might be more of an expression of spirituality than religion, but its all good regardless. Christianity incorporates all kinds of aspects of paganism in its expression... the Christmas season is an excellent example.

Religion, spirituality, philosophy, whatever... they're all ways of forming a coherent & cohesive world view that works for the individual. Blending faiths may be more of a modern phenomenon thanks to the information age & more exposure to diversity & variety in religious traditions, but its been going on to some degree for all of human history.

I just like any evidence that folks are really thinking about these things... & adopting a faith outside your original upbringing or creating a new kind of it for yourself proves that folks are really thinking about things, not just following blindly. That's gotta be a good thing. Now we can work on not feeling threatened when someone else's ideology is different from our own or they don't agree with us. Nobody was knocking anyone, everybody's good folk. Questions & discussions are good too. :D

It has been my experience that the preachers who want to tell you how to live your life are the most, are the ones who are qualified the least. i would be willing to listen to a goth service but i'll reserve judgement till later

You're not naive. You're just a girl with a big heart, that wants to believe there is good in everyone. I understand, honey.

New City Cafe - Thursday December 15 7:00 PM

Post by Daemondom »

Well, having read over these posts a couple of times now, I find that they raise some interesting issues and needs. The desire for community, fellowship, discussion, and the accommodation, perhaps bridging, of different spiritual/mystical traditions.

As I said in my intro post (see the links), I was interested to find if there were those in the goth and (also and including fetish) community that also considered themselves Christian (as do I) and would like to get together for fellowship and worship. Well it seems as though there are at least a few of you out there, as well as others who consider themselves pagan or pagan-Christian.

I will be out of town for the Christmas holidays after this week, so I would like to propose that those interested gather at New City Café in Old City this Thursday , 7:00 PM and lets hang out and see what we can put together. I will be there, regardless of who shows up. Since this sort of started out as a call for Goth-Christians, that is what I want to continue with, but those of other spiritual traditions/persuasions (ie looks to be mostly pagan folk) are welcome.

I would like it if people come as much as possible in a spirit of openess and sharing not from a desire to convert anyone from one “religionâ€

Well, from the looks of things, there's been at least some interest in discussing it sparked. :) If you're still interested in getting people together, I'd be into it. I've been looking for a better way of spending my efforts than the church I'm currently at. Even though I'm not as goth in looks as many people here, I do tend to have the goth mindset, and that puts me at odds with alot of the people (even my age) at the church. PM me with any details you have. 8-)

To anyone who reads this, we have decided to keep faith outa our relationship, and its working, but baby its up 2 u if u want to post on this, i will not be in the way.

"ahem"........if I may......seeing how I am the resident saint and all.... .....j/k......

Seriously though, if anyone is still interested in this, I would suggest starting with something as simple as a Bible study. Take a theme, such as drinking, and pull all scripture pertaining to whatever subject is selected, study it, discuss how it applied to the time frame/social situation it was written during, and the talk about how it applies to us today. Also, I would suggest doing it over a pot luck. Afterall, this is how the first church began.
Shepherds we shall be for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand so our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. We shall send a river unto Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.:bangbang:

Great idea, Saint. Anything discussed over good food makes the topic even better, mhmm. 8-) Any ideas of where to have it?
