Thursday night is Tantra, we open downstairs around 9 for drinks and dancing.

Friday night is Tribe. We're having Dishwater Blonde and the Retro/New Wave dance party.

Saturday is Gaia. Ganga Giri (from Australia) will be performing. World Famous Didgeridoo player, dj (world vibe fusion). They were so great last time and in high demand that we brought them back the following night, and the place was packed.

It's actually NOT a hippie place, it's a grotto... Morroccan-style building with an art gallery upstairs. We host many music styles and have an extremely diverse crowd, and not just 'diverse' as in how people dress, but age ratios and ethnic origins as well. It's also classier than any other place I've been to, ever.

A few people I work with went there this past week. They said that the place was rockin' and that the crystals are probably the coolest thing that they have seen in a club...ever.

Friday night we're having The Afromotive from Asheville, a west african /drums band. They were really good the first time the were here and surprised the hell out of everyone by picking up their instruments in the middle of the song (while continuing playing) and parading around Market Square and the Gallery.

Saturday night is Nuevo Montuno's (also from Asheville) Salsa Dance Party, also a huge hit the first performance.

MSA, I think you should dress like the Chiquita Banana Mama. You'd look hot with some of those stuffed grapes in your hair.

Actually I think I'd end up the flamingo suit, becuase everyone would be like "Plastic fruit? what the HELL?!?!" And then I'd make no money. Like lil house on the piarie.

Is this place all ages?

Just from the site it kinda looked that way. If so, from what I heard, that would be fucking killer. Espicially, since I'm sure people under 18 are sick of going to Java every weekend.

Wish I had the time to check it out, but unfortunatly, I spend the little off time I have doing laundry.

I would encourage everyone to hit the grotto. IM going tonite for Tantra. Can't wait to be back in the grotto and dance.

I was called late last night and informed I was terminated from World Grotto. No reason was given, just essentailly "many other people want to have your job".

I think it might have been the "I'm gonna dump you first" thing, because I was looking to take another job somewhere else. And they knew it.

I'm not sure how I fell from grace so fast, going from "lil sweetheart darling" to "we're only giving you 23 hour notice that you're not working Friday".
but several regulars aren't going to be happy......

I'm not sure about door regulations, but 21+ recieve a hand stamp, and (last week), no one under 21 after 9pm.
