Sewing with Patterns

Post by MahoganyDawn »

Is anyone out there willing to help teach me how to sew with patterns? I made a skirt for sanctus but I kinda eyeballed it and cut around another skirt I had. I'd like to learn how to do it right.

I'd be more than happy to show you how....I am not sure if my way is the right way, but I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the job gets done!

I'm all about that! Especially now that I've got maternity clothes to work on!

Lets do it!! Anyone up for a "pre" sewing bee meeting at JoAnne fabrics this weekend?

Does anyone have ideas for a place to have this thing? I could offer a place but its really far out (Kingston area on the lake).

Any other suggestions? It would pretty much need to have lots of floor space to cut out patterns and plugs to plug in a few sewing machines. Oh and tables to put the machines on.... I think thats all...

Damn! I wish I would have updated myself on this thread before today!

I did go to Jo-Ann's today, and picked up five patterns....four maternity patterns from Vogue (75% off..*drool*) and a vest pattern for the hubby. I had to force myself not to buy lots and lots of material, because I already have lots and lots of material that I need to use before allowing myself to buy more.

Those patterns should help me acquire a whole new wardrobe to get me through the pregnancy...and since most of the patterns are a-lined, I think I'll either be able to pull them off after the pregnancy, or easily take them up.

Yay! Something to keep me busy!

I am always up for sewing, I do it almost everyday. Dunno if I have much left to learn about patterns, but I am sure some of you have ideas and habits I haven't seen. Just set a time and date and I will try to make it.
