Dear Knoxville,
You just got a lot cooler. You may not realize it, but you did.
It seems that as soon as I leave the hellhole, it gets significantly more plink.
The Art Gallery of Knoxville is hosting a show called "Some Work" by Jemma (formerly Gura) Hostetler (AKA Prate) and Harsh Patel.
How has this happened?
I'm guessing that someone at AGK must be friends with them.
You really *should* know who these two artist are, but maybe you don't. They could definitely be placed at the very top of the "movers and shakers" of contemporary art. This would be a huge draw here in SF. It should be for you, too. Trust me... this is a huge deal.
If you have any desire for Knoxvile's art scene to grow and prosper, you must go. Do not question. Go. Pay any entry fee. Enjoy the work. If Jemma and Harsh are there, chat them up. Ask the Gallery curators how they finagled such a great event. Tell them you hope to see more stuff of this nature and calibre. Offer your services to them to help them out in any way they may need.
This is the gold ticket for you, Knoxville. If you don't cash it in... the next time you're at a coffee house complaining about how horrible the art scene in Knoxville is... you have only yourself to blame.

The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.
