Italian Street Faire

Post by Shadow Of The Fox »

Was just curious if anyone was planning to attend. I believe it's on Main Street once again and was hoping to see if others were interested in attending en mass.

We try to go to Rossini every year. Quite frankly, due to having children, it's just easier for us to load 'em up and go.

If I remember correctly, there were a few groups of people who got together last year at specified times/places to go. Or, am I thinking of Greekfest????

Anyone? Who else is planning on going?

It's my birthday that day and I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to a Tango Festival in Atlanta or participating with the SCA at the Italian Street Faire..I think we will have a corner all to ourselves...
Right now it's a 40% chance of showers for Saturday morning... I'll be dammed if I'll stand around in red velvet soaking wet. It's only going up to 59 degrees, though. Sombody else on my SCA yahoogroup just posted the chance of rain was upgraded to 80% with possibbly severe thunderstorms.. :-(

If it's raining I'm going to go tango instead.

Indeed, that'd be a much better place to go. I didn't know that the chances of rain were so high. Oh my, that will certainly be troubling. Let's hope the chances drop, and that we'll see you with the SCA. Likely, if the weather's nice, I'll be spending the time with my mother and one of her friends. Fingers crossed that I see some of you, Francesca.

It's actually going to be centered in Market Square this year, and several of the businesses on the square are hosting some awesome events as well. The Pres Pub always has bands, jazz at Oodles, and we (World Grotto) are hosting a latin-themed Cabaret on Saturday, performed by the Actors Coop. Come by and say hello if you're downtown.

Wish I could be there. However, I'll be working, for the third year in a row.......damn it!! So, you guys have fun, and be sure to stop by the SCA booth, or whatever they have set up. Oh, and tell any of the fencers there, that Iggy said that 'they are all very lucky that I wasn't able to be there'...............I'd just hate to show them up......afterall, I'm prettier than they are, wittier than they are, and I make it look good......but hey what you gonna do?

I went last year and had a great time. I'm definitely going at some point on Saturday.

We are no longer planning on going. :(

It's not worth it to soak the kids. We can do that at home. LOL.

We're going... we go every year and have a blast.

It's only supposed to rain in the morning, and the festival doesn't start until noon.
Sure, I'll try to be nicer, if you try to be smarter.

If it's only gonna rain in the morning, it'd certainly be interesting to see in the afternoon. Streets'll be a bit wet, and the heat'll be intense, but it would certainly be worth the effort. Doesn't it go on until like 6 in the evening or some such?
Just curious, Francesca, d'you ever decide between the two?

I still don't know... :-(
I will be in town tonight (have a date) and I if it ends early I might go swing dancing afterwards at World Grotto:
First Fridays 9pm - 12am - The Streamliners - 17 piece Big Band.. 8-)

I went swing dancing Wed Night at the Laurel Theater and they covered all the swing stuff I learned when I took some ballroom dance lessons last fall. So yay I'm still functional...!

Going shopping for now...I left one of my favorite outfits in Chattanooga so I'm going to try to find something to replace it...(ok It's a lame excuse..I just want to buy clothes...)

I'll post later if I go...

OH, btw, the SCA will be on the corner of Clinch and Gay.
There will also be an ancient roman encampment somewhere on site as well,

Well, woo at least for dates and dancing. 8-) And you never really need to have an excuse to go shopping. After all, looking good is reason enough. ;) From the sounds of things, I need to borrow you whenever I go check out these shops in Knoxville. :P
Ooh, both of those sound really good! 8-)

I think the rain has eased off enough for me to go down to Atlanta...
Have fun...

I'm thinking that I may pass on the Street Faire. Rain just seems so possible right now, and getting in that weather really makes my body hurt. That, and I'm feeling a bit sickly today, so I'm out of the running for it. Hopefully there won't be any question next year, of whether I do or not. :)

The street faire was a lot of fun. Good food, good wine and checking out the Grotto gallery was a bonus.

I look forward to it again next year.
