Your help is needed...

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Your help is needed...

Post by Mother Mo »

The KBB (a local volunteer group) is collecting Easter baskets to take to the children of families left homeless by the recent storms that hit our state. Your help is needed in acquiring prepackaged Easter baskets, hand-made baskets, or empty baskets or Easter candies & such to fill the baskets... whatever you can help with.

Donations can be dropped off at 11th Street Coffee House anytime til Thursday the 13th, or with me at Temple this Saturday. Members of the KBB will be driving the baskets up to the worst hit areas on Friday the 14th. Their goal is 150 baskets. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

F.Y.I... KBB is a newly formed local group of volunteer-minded individuals who have worked first hand with the Red Cross & been frustrated by the slowness & ineffectiveness of their responses to such situations. These individuals have decided to take matters into their own hands & do the work that needs to be done to help people in distress.

No matter if you celebrate the holiday or not, its always nice to help out kids who need it. Exercise your charitable nature. :D

Hello Mother Mo.. I tell ya if I had any extra money at all, I would be more than happy to help out. Unfortunately I don't even know if I will have the money to make it to Temple this weekend but I am going to try to borrow it from a friend.

Wish I could help, feel pretty shitty that I can't/

How sweet. I will try to throw in at least a package of candy.

Being poor really does suck when you want to be all charitable. I have even been on the receiving end of charity various times as a teen mom and a single mom...and I felt guilty because I knew someone somewhere else prolly needed it worse than I.

I totally know how you feel, Hardcoregirl. Its really nice to be able to give back even small amounts, especially when you know how truly appreciated it is. The best part is that if everybody does just a little, we can make a big difference together.

I'll drop some stuff off this weekend. I have a couple of baskets at home and can pick up some candy as well.

Thanks to everyone who helped out last night. Together we raised $90 for the Easter Basket drive. Remember that donations will continue to be accepted at 11th Street through Thursday this week. Drop by with candy, baskets, or more cash or spare change. Every little bit helps.

Some of you good folks were particularly generous last night. You know who are & know also that I love you for it. You've helped put smiles on some needy kids' faces. You rawk! ;)

Are you all taking other things that people need? Like basic needs, staples...shower supplies etc? I totally forgot to bring candy Saturday (it was a rushed, last mintue decision to go anyway) But I will drop off candy, baskets etc at the coffee shop.
Thank you for making a charity like this to help people locally, not many people have the time or the guts to do something like this.

For this particular drive, its focus is baskets & accessories or money to purchase them, but I'm sure they'd welcome any assistance & see that it gets to those who need it. Email my buddy Patrick with KBB. You can do it through the KBB website.

Live at 5 will be interviewing Patrick et al. at 11th Street tomorrow. Folks should stop by & show support if they have a chance to. (I'll be in class.)

Hey, repost that on the "Alive At Five" thread so that people will read it.
