Below is a short list of basic IRC commands that you may find useful.

Change your screen name
Syntax: /nick yournewnick

Send a private message
Syntax: /privmsg receiver text

Basic info about a nick
Syntax: /whois nick1,nick2, ...

Show Action
Syntax: /me action

Check to see if a user is experiancing lag
Syntax: /ping nick

Join or create a new chat chan
Syntax: /join channame

I would also like to add that everyone needs to join and stay put.

No chatroom gets built by people seeing an empty room and leaving.
