I liked the remake for the most part, although the original can't be beat for what it is. The thing with the remake I could have done without is the "sympathy" factor they had to throw in as to why Leatherface is the way he is. I would rather the family just be a bunch of crazy hick cannibals without the fluff.
And this one is a prequel to the remake... and Leatherface is a kid in this one?

Um... yeah. :-?

Well, I'll go see it regardless, although I couldn't set my hopes much lower.

There is something I'm really looking forward to in September though...

Amazon.com wrote:Product Description
It has been called "grisly," "sick," and "perverse," as well as "raw," "unshakeable," and "the movie that redefined horror." It was attacked by churches, banned by governments, and acclaimed by only the bravest of critics. It stunned audiences worldwide and set a new standard in movie terror forever. In 1974, writer-producer-director Tobe Hooper unleashed this dark, visionary tale about a group of five young friends who face a nightmare of torment at the hands of a depraved Texas clan. Today it remains unequaled as a landmark of outlaw filmmaking and unparalleled in its impact as perhaps the most frightening motion picture ever made. Dark Sky Films presents this masterpiece like you’ve never seen or heard it before, newly transferred in High Definition from the 16mm camera originals, remixed in 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo Surround, and featuring never-before-seen Bonus Features produced exclusively for this definitive collection.

Once again, Hollywood rapes good Japanese cinema in the ass. They're even remaking Oldboy.
If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.

Saw it a couple weeks ago.
It's pretty much a remake of the original as much as it is a 'prequel' of the remake.
Yet again, no dark humor. Yet again, no Hitchhiker/Chop Top character. No one survives and nothing is left of them. It's just sick, bleak and brutal. If you dig that, this is your movie. If you want story and substance it's not worth your time.
