Dragon Con 2006 anyone?

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Dragon Con 2006 anyone?

Post by abreeskye »

So...who all is going this year?

I recently got my much anticipated membership cards in the mail! Although...I don't remember them being blue...always yellow. Weird. Maybe they were blue last year too...

Anyways...I was wondering, for those that are going, which guests are you excited about?

There are currently 365 listed, and we have less than 39 days!

Nicholas Brendon (xanderrrrr)
Dan Brereton (nocturnals - comic)
James Callis (battlestar galactica YUM)
Yvonne Craig (batgirl)
Crüxshadows

Charles Cyphers (buffy, halloween I and II)
Peter David (comics)
Don S. Davis (twin peaks)

I'm sure I've missed some good ones...I've bolded the ones I'm *MOST* excited about. Damn, there are more people that are interesting to me than I originally thought!

I know that Bill Moseley was there a couple years ago....but I can't find my pics of him from then...and I want to take some more. Last time I had him autograph an Otis 8x10...this time I want a choptop!

And, and, and...GEORGE ROMERO!!

I'm in love with James Callis' character gaius from BG. I can't believe Nicholas Brendon is going to be there!

I want an Iron Sheik autograph saying 'I'll break your back, and fuck your ass!" Well, if any of us get up the balls to ask him sign it that way, lol.

Tickets/membership...pretty much the same thing. I think the price is at $85 for the 4 days...I'm not sure if they have said how much one day passes are going to be yet.

You can go to http://www.dragoncon.org to find out more.

I think all of the Hyatt's rooms have sold out. The marriott may have more....and I *think* it's like $120 a night or so after the dcon discount.

Actually, I just looked..

The Hyatt and Marriott both are sold out, and their rooms were 150-160/night.

The Hilton still has rooms, but they are more expensive. Lots of people stay at the Days Inn though...It's nice, I've stayed there before...but not as cool as the con hotels.

Yeah I've got my membership, don't have a hotel yet, but possibly have a line on the Days Inn if I can find a few people to share. I'll have to get specifics tho.

i would want a shiek autograph that either says "break your back, fuck your ass" or "making hollywood jobroni's humble since 1973"...allthough, the second would probably be better as a myspace caption of something...

either way, buy captain lou some vodka and he'll be your best friend

I already have a room...but...I wanted to say that they announced that there are more rooms open at the Hyatt now...for 3 and 4 night stays!

It always rocks staying at the con hotel.

So...who all is going???? 2 weeks away!

And, what does everyone usually do? Panels? Night life? Stay in the dealers room from open to close? I usually try to balance out a little of everything, but I get so hung over from the night life I miss 10,000 panels. lol.

Who is everyone excited about seeing/meeting?

Anyone looking for anything in particular in the Dealer's room?

Any show/performance or panel you are *really* looking forward to?

If ya like paying $150+ a night which I can't afford, might just get some fleabag hole outside of downtown and just pay parking fees.

LOL. I can understand that.

That's why you try to get lots of roommates, and save a little at a time all year!

This year we sucked though....on the saving money front. I've been broke for a month trying to save this time around.

The parking at the hyatt, when you have a room...is close to 100 bucks for the whole con...it is VERY ridiculous.

We wind up paying from like 750-800 bucks just for room and parking.

It sucks having to wait 30 minutes plus on elevators too...but for us it just wouldn't be the same if we stayed anywhere else. We've stayed at the Days Inn previously, and it's really not that much cheaper. There are cheaper places further out though.
