not smoking in bars is just unamerican.
Hell YaI
In fact we should open a bar where if someone lights up, anyone who doesn't smoke MUST go outside to protect them from second hand smoke, till everyone is done smoking.
Could be real fun in the winter, all of us smokers can stand at the front window looking out at the non-smokers shivering out in the cold. We can then point at our smokes and go hey light one up and you can come back inside and get warm!
Im so in on this one...we can even name it the Church of O'leary and only serve Raw Red Meat right on the bone so no fuckin hippies either
and we sing the Stones for hymnals.
the stones, the doors, black sabbath, and the misfits.
while we're at it... let's ban orgasm, and perhaps happiness as well.
who the fuck needs happiness? be a good robot. sit in the corner until you're needed. don't worry; you'll be called upon.
as mo said: we already
have the technology to separate the toxins from those who do not want them. for fuck's sake, even my cheap ass $50 vaccuum has 3 filters on it - is it so much to ask that there be a smoking room, much like in olden days, but with modern technology to make sure that the people who don't smoke aren't adversely affected? in early 1900's, they had seperate rooms, as the men, and later, the women as well wanted to smoke themselves into oblivion, on cigars, and after the wars, cigarettes. not to mention pot - there were times when
that was legal, as well, though some would prefer not to recall that era.
and all of it, toxins, smoke, dust... allergens...
all of it we can easily filter out.
that does, in fact, leave it as a matter of choice.
a choice the owners' of establishments have to make... and more importantly, a choice the patrons of said establishments have to make.
do you want something badly enough, there will be sacrifice. does a smoker want to avoid cancer in the lungs, he or she will have to fight the demon and overcome it. does a non-smoker want to avoid a like fate, they will have to avoid the same toxins as a smoker breathes in.
but the latter
and the former needs not only to avoid second-hand smoke, as anyone born in this day and age should know as clearly as their own hand. toxins abound, and even those who do not press the source to their own lips contribute to the cause.
for all that i see and hear people bitching about clean air, i don't see many riding a bicycle to work. and that, of all things, smacks of hypocrisy to me.
