DESCENT......into the cavern of worst movies!
I had the rare oppurtunity to actually go see a movie at the theaters last night.....so me and my friends dressed as we would dress for WIF.....yes i love trouble!.....anyways we saw descent....what a waste of film! I swear it was made by the same slime balls who made the blair witch.....Trust me dont waste your money or your time....IT SUCKED!
"OH SHIT.....MY SPLEEN" - ME
I've yet to see The Descent but all of the reviews I have heard so far make it sound quite promising. I'll probably be getting a copy of the U.K. version sometime this week, looking forward to checking it out.
It's Neil Marshall's new film, by the way. He wrote and directed a movie called Dog Soldiers a couple of years ago, although I doubt you have ever heard of it.
The guys who did Blair Witch had nothing to do with this film.
I have a couple of questions.
Do you consider yourself an avid fan of the horror genre?
And what exactly is it about this movie that you think "sucked"?
Perhaps posting an actual review here rather than boasting about how you and your friends think it's hip to dress as you would to go out to a club, only to go to a movie theater would be in order.

Isn't Dog Soldiers a werewolf movie? I seem to remember seeing the previews briefly but hadn't seen anything else from it and eventually forgot about it.
“That proves you are unusual, returned the Scarecrow; and I am convinced the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed.â€
As an absolute horror nut, let me say I've been looking forward to this for a while. I had been trying to avoid any spoiliers, but that became an impossiblility once the trailers hit the tv. I'm hoping to catch this one this weekend.
First negatives I've heard on this. But then I am assuming that you thought Blair Witch Project, a unique and innovative horror film with genuine scares, sucked too. Would that be because of the claustrophobic atmosphere of the movie? I understand a good portion of it takes place in the darkness.
Ah well, these things are all subjective. We all like what we like, hate what we hate. No harm no foul.
Dog Soldiers was a werewolf movie. It had a fairly straight to video budget, but was a real hoot. Well wiorth renting.

zeo, im not going to even waste my time with you. Me and my friends were having fun, something you should try sometime. Trust me it will help u lighten up a lil bit,
To answer ur questions, yes i love horror, I like more horror/scifi than anything. I prefer older films, more black and white 50s style.
What made it suck, was the plot, the leading to the plot sucked, the acting was horrible, and I was suposed to be scared?
does that satisfy you zeo, cause thats all that matters to me now to know that I have satisfied YOU
I will strive to the best of my abilitys to be just like you!

one good thing is , there is plenty of blood, and I mean plenty. The special effects, were ok. And I will say the characters were hot.

Speen I think you are a very nice guy, but doing things like that gives the whole "scene" a bad name, looking like we dress up simply for attention...its just asking for trouble that is simply annoying and not welcome by those of us who are simply ourselves and have gotten shit for it our whole lives...dress comfortably, dress all in black, but please don't go out in fishnets and crow makeup, just wanting for some redneck to start shit with you, it makes us all look bad.

Seriously, it's a film, it's not anyones new born child. If he wants to make a negative comment about it, and a blind, uneducated comparison.. who cares. No ones opinion on here supercedes anyone elses, because they're all just opinions. I don't see why it has to come down to personal attacks, etc.
Spleen, dress however you want. It's not coming back on us unless we want it to let it come back on us. People are going to stereotype regardless, and the kids you see at the mall are doing the "Scene" enough damage as it is. Most of us on here aren't what we seem, but if people want to put labels on us and think we're all just the same.. who needs these people? The only person you are representing is yourself, and you do this each and everyday. So carefully consider how you want to be viewed.
Also, putting things on the world wide web, unfortunately subjects these things to world wide criticism. (just for future reference)

Spleen, why be upset because Zeo gives you shit for wearing club gear to a movie? Wasn't that the whole purpose of wearing it out? To get a reaction? If you love trouble, don't be butthurt when it finds you.
Anyways, about the movie, I can't wait to see it. I hear it's more like a horror flick from the late 70's/early 80's than anything. Simple plot, minimal CGI, and lots of blood. That's a major problem with newer horror releases: not enough of the red stuff. While I enjoy movies that really tap into the mind, sometimes I just want to see some gore.
If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.
i got the unrated english release a few months ago...it's not one of the best i've seen the past year(hills, cigarette burns, imprint, rooms for tourists, marebito, & calvaire),but by no means is this flick a "terrible" movie...it's just a fun little flick, good for a matinee...
in fact i enjoyed it a lot more than his first film...as for holes in the plot, i think little hints in the script are the most underrated thing about this flick...most will think it's just a modern-day boogens...caves,victims, and monsters...but there's a underlying layer (part of the sub-plot)that does just enough to make you wonder if it is...what it is...think paranoia,i'll leave it at that...
the other underrated part of the movie was the lead character...i enjoyed her perfomance more that any female lead since alex in haute tension or before that ripley...lots of protein... the appy mountains were a great backdrop...
