I have some of the coolest customers...

Post by Celestial Dung »

Just the other day a Video customer let me borrow their copy of Brian Froud's "The World of the Dark Crystal" How sacred is this I washed my hands before touching it.

The table top book treats the movie as an academic treatise on the culture. Remeber Aughura the astrolger? Turns out he wrote a book, no really.

The book is full of left over artistic renderings Froud used for the project. Of speical interest he takes the carvings and sprial images and makes a working mythology out of them. I found it paticularely interesting why pyramids figure so much into the architecture of the movie.

Speaking of such the books also feature a heavy occult sense. The mystical side of geomatry and mathmatics play a heavy part in the mythos. For added kick one of the geomatic shapes feature the Kabbalah Tree of Life.

There's also some talk of the Gelflings, the Pod People, UrRu's, and the almightly creepy lizard kings the Skeksis. The UrRus and skeksis are expecially dealt with their corrosponding inedenties.

I'm still washing my hands
