Would you participate?

Post by Cheerleader of the Damned »

When I was in NOLA for the Southeastern Psych Association conference, one of my professors asked me why I wear so much black. (I was actually toning it down for school. Hehe!) I figured I'd write him a paper to try to explain, but since I'm so interested in the research end of it, I decided I'd try to rally up support to do another survey. Let's face it, if you're here, you at least have a passing interest in someting about this particular community...so what better place to come!

First, I need to see if anyone would be interested in participating. I'd like to have at least 100 people do this so that my results would be something worthwhile. (I'm graduating at the end of the month, so this is just a "fun" thing for me since I'm technically out of school.) I envision it being an anonymous internet survey so that your answers won't come back to bite you in the ass. As of right now, I'm not sure what the topic would be. I've asked one of my professors what he'd like to know about "goths" to give me some direction. It may be something like discrimination/bullying in school, religious views, drug use...rather touchy subjects. In the end, I'd like to present the professor that started it all by asking the question with a well documented set of statistics about the diversity of our community here in TN.

I could post the results to the forum or they would be made available online in some form. It's our chance to educate people on who we are as a group. I encourage everyone to participate.

although i don't consider myself terribly goth in the stereotypical forms. I am always willing to try to explain "our" side of things to those that have never explored their own dark sides.

I don't think I'm "Goth enough" to participate in this survey, but if you're fishing for opinions on "Goff" (and all that it implies) I can certainly comply...

Wow! Thanks for the support so far everyone! It doesn't really matter how "goth" you are to be honest. You're here so, as I said before, it makes you part of the community...and therefore, worthy of an opinion. ;) I encourage our Nashvillians to get their say in as well.

Oh and Nem...I would never probe you. I wouldn't have to...I bet I could see your colon through your skin anyway.

None of the above fit me, but you'll probably come up with more than that anyway. So I'm in. I'm just as curious as you.
