It's terrifying.
Everytime I open my eyes, he's staring.
A direct, unbreakable stare,
Only slightly defracted by it's being
Through the glass door.
Motionless lips press tightly
Ears that will never really listen.
Head turned slightly.
He hears the story on the phone
But he'll never really listen.

I remember first seeing his name
It was written on a card
Attached to a broken flower vase
I repeated it over in my head
And made up a story
Sometimes I wonder the significance of things
Are they coincidental or will they reappear?
I then met a stranger several days later,
After obsessing over that name.
Five parts, one sound
But you could never really listen.

I asked his name in curiosity
He said before he answered,
"I must in fact thank you.
You're the one I've waited on
For so, so long.
I saw your picture on a wet newspaper
Blurred ink in the alleyway.
I thought I'd leave some floweres
For someone that understood.
Only recently I gave up on this dream.
But you're the one I've waited for."

And he told me his name.
Five parts, one sound.
But I could never really listen.
Gossip's worth its weight in gold.
