I'm going to the library in a bit, any suggestions for books.

I prefer nonfiction, but would love the appropriate fiction book as long as it's poetic.

again Im horrible with names but if you can find it theres actually a cool history of knoxville (was writend around the early eighties and written by a female so mabe herstory) has lots of interesting things about here you wouldnt even imagine.

(ok ok im being lazy I just want you to find it so I can try and buy a copy).

oh wait you dont live around here do you? hrmm Eric Fromm is always nice and huxley is just as much fun as nonfiction as he is fiction, or you could always grab a Janes aircraft of the world, or a Go (name here), and catch the traveling bug.

I'm reading through Blue Sky Mind at the moment. The Beats and Bhudism it's a literary study on how Bhudism shaped the Beats literary and spiritual standings.

For some odd reason I'm reading through The WHite Goddess again. Some debate how non fictional this really is but it's a fun read. Besdies you will fianally realize the meaning of Stairway to Heaven after reading the opening chapter.

Read House of Leaves and tell me how it goes. I've been dying to read this one.

sorry to be using your thread, but that might be the author but the book is specifically about knoxville, has a great history about the conflicts with the local tribes, The apathy of the local voters (by population knoxville was a union town but since only the lankowners took the time to vote it started out the civil war as a confederate town. the local foces then were smacked aside and it became union again), Storyies about all the bars, etc. etc.

So here is what I ended up getting

So here is what I ended up getting

Kiss and Make-up: (couldn't resist) this was suggested by Randall Brown

The White Goddess: Study of poetic mythology (at the advisement of Celestial Dung thanks)

I can see your point about Stairway to heaven, However not being a zep fan, what i've got out of the first chapter is why I tend not to like early English writers so much, as he puts they tended to see themselves as masters of the muse. House of leaves was checked out.

Patti Smith An Unathorized Biography (picked up while looking for the KISS book)You ever have a book that you know you would like but tend to avoid well this is one of those books for me.

Code Breakers God that book is huge 938 pages not including Biblio, Notes, Acknowledgements, and index. I am liable to lose this one to my better half she seems to like it, must hide

Tori Amos scarlet's Walk CD that was in the new bin

The poems of Dylan Thomas: (to make up for the KISS lol)I've always avoided Dylan thomas thought that he was to pastoral, but Man this guy is now my favorite poet check this out:

Children of Darkness got no wings,

Children of darkness got no wings
This we know we got wings,
Stay, dramatic figures, tethered down
By weight of cloth and fact,
Crystal or funeral, got no hope
For us that knows misventure
Only as wrong; but shan't the genius fail,
Gliding. rope-dancing, is his fancy,
Better nor us can't gainsay
walking,
Who'll break our necks upon the pavement
Easier than he upon the ice.
For we are ordinary men,
Sleep wake, and sleep, eat, love, and laugh,
With wide, dry mouths and eyes,
Poor, petty vermin,
Stink of cigarettes and armpits,
Cut our figures, and reatreat at night
Into a double or a single bed,
The same thoughts in our head.
We are ordinary men,
Bred in the dark behind the skirting-board,
Crying with hungry voices in our nest.

Children of darkness got no wings,
This we know, we got no wings,
Stay, in a circle chalked upon the floor,
Waiting all vainly this we know.
The things you can't remember tells the things you can't forget
