Sushi, anyone?

Post by candicide »

Going on the theme of requesting the local recommendations...where does one find good, inexpensive sushi? Especially vegetarian sushi?

as not a fan of sushi i can only tell you where it might be located not whether it is any good or not, some Krogers make some for lunch, the Asian grill on Kingston pike (I hate this place but others love it I suggest trying in the afternoon may be fresher) as dose (cant rember name something like miyabis) the one across from o charlies (same side of road just a little farther down)and I belive Wasabi's might have a sushi bar as dose.

BQ and Tomo's are quite good, though I'm more fond of the quantity one can get from BQ's... :D

All of them seem to taste like fish, though...

Saw Tomo's this weekend didnt go in in but its a small Japaninese(?) resturant so that usually means sushi. Its right next to cats down on the west side of town.

I was hoping someone would mention Tomo here

I know the people who own the place, it's some damn good sushi. I'm pretty sure they still do this, but every saturday night they hold a late night sushi. You can go there until 3 am.

I know they had signs there for it, hopefully they still continue that. Although you may want to check before showing up at 3 am...

Tomo is located on Kingston pike right down from the mall. It's very small, right beside the matress store where cats is. 8-)

the bq asian bar and grill is good for a meaty meal. i'm a vegan so i constantly search for good vegetable sushi. when i visited the bq the veggie selection tasted oddly metallic. which leads me to believe, they don't thoroughly clean their cutting board. I do recommend Tomo. If you're traveling to Chattanooga, there's an excellent place called Sushi Nabe. Mr. Nabe, the owner, makes an effort to personally greet his customers. Most all of their ingredients are imported and flown in. Though, the prices rise dramatically at dinner time. If you're going there after 6pm for a full-on-sit-down-dinner expect to pay $12-up for a plate.
whichever i choose it amounts to the same, absolutely nothin'.

krogers sushi is just okay, and wasabi's sushi is expensive... you're best off making it on your own... [possibly] sheets of seaweed and rice, and some cucumbers, anyone?

This week end I noticed the Fresh Market sells sushi. It looked good (thats all I ever do with it) and seemed to be really cheap $4.99 for a pack of 12 or more they also had a pamplet that indicated they would do party trays.

If you go to tomo's, ask about selections not on the menu.
My waitress offered the "Baja" roll, it was fantastic! It's the favorite of the chef that was working that night, but not on the menu. :dup:
Tomo's is open till 3:30 am on "bookworm nights?".

Their fried green tea ice cream is really good too.
