Not to seem too cranky, but the moderators have constantly requested that the word "fuck" be left out of the title of threads. We try to find different was of spelling the word, or use *** and
@!# to substitute letters.

Just a friendly reminder before somebody pulls out a stick. :-)

It's true - we don't like you to use anything in a topic title that would be considered offensive by the general population.

The dumpster is kind of an exception - but this thread was originally posted in General.

Related to fuck useage, the News of the Weird reported that the FCC ruled it was OK for Bono to say "fucking" because it was being used as a modifier, or enhancer to another word and was not related to a sex act and therefor was not obscene.

To help us understand this ruling the FCC has provided this guide:

1. "That's fucked up!" Not allowed because the subject "that" is being obscenely copulated with. Fuck as a verb or predicate nominominativestill not allowed. Related usages: FUBAR

2. "Fucking A!" While the -ing suffix points to the usage of the word as an adjective, the 'A' remains ambiguous. As it can be an abbreviation for ass and there for describes an obscene sex act, this usage is also not allowed. Related usages: A fucking awesome, Beating/Blowing the fucking shit out of something (acceptable usage only when describing actions taken against "enemies of the state")

3. "Unfucking believable!" This is an acceptable use of fucking as "unfucking" is a non descriptive adjective modifying believable to a level beyond ordinary unbelievability. While this usage is acceptable, the FCC recommends using "Double plus ungood believable!" for simplicity and clarity.

Sadly as far as I know the FCC has not opened up a public comment period on the subject...

I think junkie had a point on Halloween - or was it the morning afterwards? - when he mentioned that people don't seem to give the word "shit" it's proper due.

I had a drama class once where you had to get on stage and use the word fuck in as many different ways as possible, just by altering your voice or adding more fucks and variation in the phrase. I was astounded.
