Sacrilege SACRILEGE. . . you were warned. . .
OKAY . . . I just got done reading the first two chapters of 1 Kings (NIV). . . K. . . here's the summary, David is old and he gets appointed a non-sexual concubine to keep him warm. . . he's dying you know. Then one of his Sons tries to appoint himself king kind of sneakily by getting everybody together and telling them he's the new king etc etc. . . Then some people catch on and David makes Solomon King and tells him some stuff. Then the son who said he was king gets all scared and asks for forgiveness from his younger brother, Solomon. Thats Chapter 1 basically and it ends with Solomon basically saying he'll let him live if he behaves.
The first part of chapter two basically is entirely about Solomon killing all of his brothers and other people who might cause some problems. He killed one (the older one from above) for asking (Via their mother) for the non-sexual concubine to be his wife, One he kills while he is trying to hide in a temple for having killed some people in war without permission , one he killed for leaving his home to go get some escaped slaves. . . not cause he was a slaver, just cause he told him not to leave his home (oathbreaking, three years after the oath was made). . .
I don't feel like reading samuel, but could someone tell me what all these peeps did to deserve death? He keeps saying that they wronged his papa somehow.
This of course was all before he sacrificed 1000 animals on an altar at Gibeon and prayed for Wisdom. . . . so maybe he was just acting a little rashly.
This is good reading, bloody, but interesting. . . would make a good D&D game. . . any takers?
Biblical D&D campaign world. . . that would fucking rock!
Also, Mafiaman I know you're all about some D&D, and the rest of you I assume are, me and a friend were going to make a game incorporating aspects of the d20 system with Warhammer system to make a roleplaying/war game. . . Any Ideas? Old Testament would be a good setting with all the bloodiness going on with huge battles and lists of troop sizes with hero characters, etc. . . some western civ background would help here with some of the roman and greek conquests. . . or even egyptian conquests if there are any egypt buffs. . . blah blah blah blah dork dork dork dork nerd nerd nerd geek geek oooooo. . .
Gurp.

Rufus is widely regarded as the meanest dog employed by the State Department since Bocephalus, a hard-on of a coon hound who was, by all accounts, crazier than possum fuck.

The exception being LARP. LARPing can be fun.[/u]
i really, really like MMORPGs.
LARPing has always seemed a bit goofy to me. i mean, if some nerd starts chanting and waving his pencil at me like it's an enchanted claymore, i'm likely to shove it up his butt.
typically, i prefer for something to create the world i'm going to escape into, and though i'd love to do so myself, i really don't have the time. hence my liking for MMORPGs.
now, quake or unreal. those are some games i can get into. real stress relief.

unless they're doing naked LARPing, and then it's called "porn".
either way, it's bad acting.

I tried to do that once. Set a D&D game in 50 AD and had the players be Christians in Rome. They decided it was just too suicidal to be a playable realm so we all went back to Dark Sun.

If you know Russ over at Dragon's Lair in Maryville, he has got the handle on some hardcore historical data for doing wargames using the Warhammer system. I know that the Warhammer system has undergone some radical changes since I was using it many years ago, so I am really don't have the expertise there anymore.
I gotta say, I am biased against d20. It seems to be geared towards satisfying the munchkin market. Actually, there used to be a Warhammer Roleplaying system out about 15 or so years ago. I don't know what happened to it.
I'll have to do some geek type research.....
