The Butterfly Effect

Post by Aerick Ravenheart »

This is a film about a guy(Ashton Kutcher) who has blackouts as a kid, ultimately leading to him discovering that when he uses his journals to remember his past, he can blackout and go back and change the effects of his past. But, each time he does, something goes wrong and only makes situations worse than they originally were to begin with. Also starring Amy Smart(Road Trip) and Ethan Suplee(Mallrats, American History X)......I LOVED every second of this movie! It pulls you in from the beginning and never lets go, leaving you to wonder what will happen next. I give it five out of five stars for excellent. One of my new all-time favorite movies, and I highly recommend The Butterfly Effect, so go see it.

I'm surprised...I figured it would be crap. Well, it may still be crap, because some people out there loved The Crow...lol.

I thought I'd have a hard time with Ashton playing a serious role...

What is the deal here? There are soooo many shitty new movies out right now that people wont shut up about, and when a great movie actually comes along....nobody seems to care. I swear, this film is one of the best I have seen in years. And I will definitely be picking up the special edition director's cut DVD, which has a darker ending than the theatrical version.....(sigh) I'm just disappointed that a movie so good becomes a flop, when piece of shit cookie cutter blockbuster's rake in all of the profit$. Seriously, you guys, give it a chance! Ah well, maybe people will catch onto this movie once it hits video, like Mallrats did. We can hope....

 Too funny Aerick!

I'll give this a shot, but only on dvd. It takes a bit more than this to get me in a theatre. I understand your frustration though. It sucks when you see a great film and then just can't get anyone interested in it. However, I have a very hard time, based soley on the trailers, believing that this is a great film.

Honestly, I think it is the casting more than the story that bothers me...And the editing of the trailer. So many new films is this genre just look like they are being directed toward a target audience, and that audience ain't me.

I'll check it out though. Hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise!

I just can't buy into that fuckface being serious....if the movie failed in the theaters...well- its his own gun he shot himself in the foot with.

Does the movie sound cool.....somewhat.
Will i watch it on dvd....yes
will i rent/buy within the first 2 weeks of its release....no.

also- i fear watching this cus i fear that Ethen will do SOMETHING ELSE i have done in the past to make more people compare him to me.......
I'm a big bright shining star......

Making a HONDA fast is like coming out of the closet, yeah you might suprise a few people; but in the end.. your still gay.

I see what people are saying about Ashton Kutcher, seeing how he always plays a total dipshit in other things, but I thought he did a good job playing a serious and down to earth guy. Oh, and veteran actor Eric Stoltz is excellent as always, stealing the scenes he is in. And the film doesn't really aim at a specific audience, I don't think. There isn't a feel of cookie cutterness to it, and I was surprised by the ending. And the trailer for this film didn't clearly and fully get across what the story is all about, so I went expecting a decent movie and left pleased to find it was better than I expected. But hey, maybe this film isn't for everyone, and that may be why it flopped, seeing that most people are sheep that will flock to any big budget movie that is out simply because everyone else is seeing it. Ah well, nevertheless, great film. But hey, what do I know?
