Theron drawn to 'Aeon Flux' at Paramount
Stepping away from the serious dramatics of "Monster," for which she is nominated for a best actress Oscar, Charlize Theron could next find herself playing a franchisable vixen for Paramount Pictures and helmer Karyn Kusama. Theron is in negotiations to topline "Aeon Flux," a big-screen adaptation of the animated MTV series. Gale Ann Hurd's Valhalla and Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi's Lakeshore Entertainment are producing. The filmmakers are eying a June start. Penned by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, the project would find Theron playing a futuristic assassin known for her extreme style, cool attitude and tight clothes. Hurd, David Gale, Lucchesi and Greg Goodman are producing, with Rosenberg serving as executive producer. Peter Cheung created the original series. Theron is repped by manager JJ Harris at One Entertainment and the law firm Hansen, Jacobson, Teller & Hoberman. Theron recently picked up best actress honors at the SAG Awards and the Golden Globe Awards for her starring turn in Patty Jenkins' "Monster" for Newmarket Films. Theron starred in Paramount's remake of "The Italian Job" last year. (Chris Gardner)
