ftp servers.

im somewhat of a computer moron, and i have seen ftp used on several message boards. im just curious if anyone would be willing to show me how to run and use an ftp server. basically thats it. any help is appreciated.


also, on the side, if anyone has fruity loops, i would be much obliged if they could rip it for me...

I prefer to eat my fruit loops, not rip them up

but you may want to check out these links for information on running ftp servers.

You don't need fancy stuff like Apache, etc since it sounds like all you want to do is just share mp3s and other misc files.
That is, if I'm understanding you right. Anyway you just need your basic software that's free and you can have your ftp server running when you need it and off when you don't.

Is this something you want to turn into a huge server, or you want to be able to tell people "Hey, I have that song, ftp over to me and you can get it" and stuff like that? If so you need just the most basic things which those websites will help you on.

and just google how to set up an ftp server or how to run an ftp server. you'll get lots of good hits.

Be carefull with them. I started on that, and 11 virus's slipped past Norton's antivirus on me.
