If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

"Can I come play?" -Newbie

Post by delphi_ote »

I'm a 24 year old guy from Cincinnati who will be living in the Knoxville area for the next year. I didn't think this would be so bad until I saw how many CHURCHES there are here. The Jesus Freaks are really out in full force, aren't they?

I'm not Gothic, but I'm not boring, either. Athiest, avid reader, current events junkie, I have a degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in math and worked on a few research publications in the field of bioinformatics. I play guitar, make movies, play video games, and RP (mostly D&D and SR.)

I also know how to read a little Hebrew and weld. You know. Just in case.

I'd be more than happy to provide more details about myself, if you so desire.

Thanks!
Question: Do you guys frequently meet anywhere or is there any event I could come meet some of you at? I'd like some good conversation this weekend.

Athiest huh? Sorry, if you can't make or be melted by Holy Water, you can't play with us!

Just kidding... seriously, come to 11th St. Expresso House on the corner of 11th St. and Laural Ave. tonight (or any Friday) and we'll beat you up, rob you blind and leave you for dead... I mean, we'll introduce you around to the crowd and make you feel welcome in knox-vile. Fun starts around 6 PM and goes until whenever.

Welcome to knox-hell, enjoy your m-fin' stay!

There will probably be a group of people converge on Urban Bar & Grill in the Old City Saturday evening for the Knoxville Acid JAzz Trio Reunion show. Also there is our big Monthly Dance party SANCTUS this Sunday at Blue Cats in the Old City more info for both can be found in the upcoming events section of the forum.

Welcome to KnoxGothic! :D

I think it's more of the buckle of the bible belt.

My religious studies professor informed us that Knoxville has the most churches per capita than any other U.S. city, & of course, the U.S. is the most religious of all the industrialized nations of the world.

Was feeling a little under the weather this weekend, but II lurked at both events this weekend. Didn't really get to talk to anyone, but I enjoyed the music and the scene.

Pi is my favorite movie of all time (hence the math minor, obsession with computers, and Hebrew...) Whoever chose that, you made my Sunday!

Thanks for the welcome! I look forward to talking to some of you in the real world at some point.

And Mother Mo, by "religious" you mean "closed-minded Puratan-Protestant wack jobs," right?

I'm going to get shot in this city. I can feel it.

Actually, this part of the country can also brag that it has the highest concentration of neo pagans, wiccans, & other flavors of polytheism, so it's not entirely fundamentalist baptist, but still a majority, I'm afraid.

If polytheists were in the majority, I think this would be a much more interesting place.

We atheists may be right, but we sure are boring.

Greetings and hallucinations.
Atheism only makes one boring if you have nothing besides atheism to talk about.

If you think Knoxville is bad, try Crossville, lupa.

Imp, don't worry. I'm trying to have a sense of humor about myself while learning more about your religions. If anyone is interested in "tutoring" me, let me know.

And Tabris, hello from you to me... er... me to... me... me to you to me... dammit!
