The End. (Sept. 4)

Post by Seraph Antaine »

Hello. The children of 0rlok, the private forum which may not be named, would like to invite one and all, once again, to attend our fantastic gothic bacchanalia, The End., tomorrow night, Saturday, September 4. The forum engine here won't accept images hosted at the private forum which may not be named, nor allow any links or text containing the word the private forum which may not be named (it changes such to spell "knoxgothic" or "the private forum which may not be named" :-x  :-x ), so I will have to remind you that we open the doors at 10PM, and the cover is $7, as per usual. In addition to our always-supreme entertainment, there will be a big CD giveaway, courtesy of Artoffact Records, and some lucky individuals will "win" a the private forum which may not be named T-shirt door prize. See you there. If you want more information, or a look at the flyer, come on over to our forum, which doesn't censor its members' posts.

I'll try, but finances are tight. We'll see which way the wind blows tonight.

To any who do make it out, be super careful driving... big holiday & game weekend, so cops will be hard at work earning thier donuts. Don't give the piggies a reason to ruin your evening! ;)

I would have been there but I did some volunteer work for Boomsday (running a soda booth) and was way too tired, hot, and sweaty afterwards to make the drive all the way back home to take another shower, change clothes, and come back into Knoxville. Sorry everyone. I missed seeing everyone though.

"Our" fantastic gothic bacchanalia?

Isn't The End Candicide's event? Sunsfear Productions?
How *did* you manage to finagle that ?

Nope, never was. But if you and your newfound friend want to continue spinning it that way, it's your business. It's like when you see someone else's kid eating paint chips, and you want to tell them to stop, for their own good, but it's not your place, so you just let them eat the deadly, mind-eroding paint chips...yeah...except in this case I can't be as concerned, because you're not a kid, and you should know better.

As a P.S., and not as an aside, I want to thank everyone who did come out to The End., and added to the good time had by all (except for the one guy who spent 2 hrs locked in the bathroom stall hurling).

*laugh*
Actually, I don't know Candice well enough to call a friend. Or even to call (I don't have her number).

Hmmm...

I could swear that said "SunsFear Productions" (Candice) and when the subject of the private forum which may not be named's involvement was brought up, many protests were made about the private forum which may not be named's merely "sponsoring" The End.

Now it looks like it's been taken from the creator- has it?
I'd like to hear Candice's side of this, being a naive and idealistic person who will no doubt get called more bad names for daring to question this new arrangement.

You're really digging for the ugly in this aren't you? I wanted to avoid it for Candace's sake, but since you love to hear this kind of shit so much, here it is, for all inquiring painteaters: Sunsfear Productions was not Candace's baby, though I am sure she told many it was. It was Erin's and Candace was her chosen partner in it, because Erin thought she might prove productive and pull a partner's equal share of the load. the private forum which may not be named (that's me and my wife Erin, painteaters) wanted not to have to micromanage all the details of The End., the party wholly conceived, negotiated, secured, and payed for (that's what "sponsored" means, painteaters) by the private forum which may not be named (again, that's me and Erin). We however did not want to partner anyone into the private forum which may not be named merely for the sake of organizing a dance night, which, to me, is merely a component of a scene, and not the hub of it, as it is for some. Therefor, Sunsfear Productions was implemented (by Erin) to allow Erin to experiment on collaboration/partnership with her friend Candace. Sunsfear was effectively hired by the private forum which may not be named in same way a wedding planner is hired, and for much the same kind of reasons - to make sure the band is there on time, and to fold the napkins into neat shapes, etc. When you hire a wedding planner to "do your wedding," it doesn't become their wedding, though they certainly will call it "my wedding" or "the wedding I'm doing," as they run about town doing the errands. When the private forum which may not be named saw that almost all the effort (really not just most, but almost all of it) was on the private forum which may not be named's side, we couldn't justify paying proceeds to someone who wasn't pulling a partner's full share of the load. Erin decided rightly to dissolve her partnership with Candace, and since that meant there would be no more Sunsfear Productions, then the private forum which may not be named would have to proceed with its events on its own. In short, since all the work was being done by me and my wife, the founders/owners of the private forum which may not be named and of The End., there was no longer any call or need for a continued relationship with Sunsfear Productions, with whom we have had no contract. We are now, and have been from the beginning, fully responsible for planning our own parties. We just tried to get some help to relieve our busy schedules, and it didn't pan out. Dig, dig all you want for the savory drama-cream filling you crave, but there is nothing more than what I have told you, save a few minor, but potentially embarrassing details that I will not hang out in public, because I don't wish to embarrass anyone unnecessarily. That is way more than I would wish to reveal to anyone outside the private forum which may not be named of our business, but I simply can't have you insinuating that we have cheated anyone, or finagled anything. Go ahead and drag Candace out into the light, if you want to make her uncomfortable for your own amusement. I know you love the drama. I will not feed into it by posting anything additional to what I have posted here. Everyone involved in the creation of The End. knows full well the truth of what I have presented. Ask any of them, if they will talk to you.

So ... you WOULD let the kid eat paint chips? Careful, you'll get expelled from The Babysitter's Club!

I am not into clubland politics, as everyone knows, but I do know that Candace started talking last winter about putting on a night in Knoxville, and one day it actually happened. Whether Erin contemplated similar ideas simultaneously and then the two ideas meshed, I don't know. Suffice to say, I know firsthand that Candace's ideas, and the initial steps she took to make those ideas a reality, predated her involvement with you.

Never once did I hear Candace represent SunsFear as anything other than a collaboration between her & Erin, but the particulars of SunsFear as an entity and whether or not there was any contract with KF are really quite beside the point. Candace is out of something she (at least co-)conceived and worked hard for, and that sucks.

It's a shame, because loyalty and plain dealing are rare enough, and besides, Candace's ideas were SO much cooler than anything else I've seen around here. Oh well.

I must say that I agree with Martin. I have known firsthand the ideas behind this for quite some time now as well.

Candace did a lot to bring this about, if nothing else she talked with many people who were opposed to the the private forum which may not be named forum/group, including myself as of prior and levelled with them... explained to them what a great thing it actually is instead of thinking it was a horrid group of elitists. She was the mediator, and if it weren't for her I don't think it would have been so successful because so many people were anti-K-feratu. She and I both have spent HOURS promoting the night both online and locally, as well as many others, so it does make me sad to hear that only two people are responsible.

I'm sorry if I've made you sad by telling the truth. No one was more disappointed than my dear wife in how things turned out with Candace. Candace had only minor involvement with the first installment of The End., and none at all in the second one, as we did not hear one peep out of her for the entire month between the two. Not one phone call, email, or PM. If you don't show up to work for a month, you expect to be fired, right? Believe the side of the story you are getting, but know that you are getting that version from the one who was fired. My wife Erin can tell you how hard it is to believe bad things about one you call your friend. But it is easier (though no more enjoyable) when you have the undeniable facts. The truth can hurt, and the version of this episode that you are getting is, no doubt, more comfortable to hold onto. As I said before, there is more to all of this that I will not tell on a forum, due to my own sense of discretion. But consider this: If Candace was truly in charge of our event, how could she be fired from it?

From my perspective, there is nothing inherently dramatic about asking questions about a business that I might seek to patronize.

If, for example, I didn't want to spend my money supporting Megamart, then I would be interested in knowing if they had bought out my local mom and pop corner market. Its simply business, and if someone wants my business they can be forthcoming about these kind of issues.

I am sure there are all kinds of behind the scenes rigamarole, which I neither wish to be privy to, nor do I care anything about. The end result, though, is of interest to me. I care where I spend my money, and with whom I spend my time.

Ya know....

correct me if i am wrong-

but isn't The End. ....um....OURS.

Ya know, the scene's...just like Sanctus is....OURS...ya know...THE FUCKING SCENE'S??

simple as this, you have people running the gimmick, wheather or not there are changes in the roster, doesn't matter....if the thing is getting done, be happy....cus YOU GUYS aren't out there doing it yourselfs.

The Promoters of these events (wheather it be a sanctus, an end, or anything else) are putting in hard work. I've seen it, and fuck, i've lived it. Trust me the shit is hard work., and everyone...i'm talking Tony, Erin, Jason, Drew...whoever else...should be applauded, cus the shit gets annoying, when all you get is the negatives, and not a THANK YOU. (trust me, thats why there is no longer Skareoke.....) I mean sure there are a few, but would you wanna bust your ass, going out and doing shit...booking, planning, fliering, whatever to do this, if no one appreciated it.

Yeah, sure theres money. But it only goes so far. There actually really isn't any money in the shit honestly. I personally like thank you's to go with my Jackson's,.

So remember that, any time you have anything negative to say.

More importantly, don't say negative shit, if you aren't even perticipating in the nights, know anything other than "Xangaland adventures" and wanting to be a total assclown. Because you are wrong....mostly, cus you can never be right.

First I just have to make sure that you didn't just call my boy CD an ass clown ( because if anyone I know wants to make the scene a fun and safe environment for ALL it is CD) and second, I also know the hard work that goes into keeping a night and from my point of view the thanks come in the form of a full dancefloor and a hype party. The thanks come in the form of attendance and hugs from people who just saw you last week but act like they haven't seen you in years. The thanks come in the form of being able to walk in and know that even though some may complain about your sets or your way of dealing with things, someone has got your back. You know. In this scene I have gotten alot of backs and stood up and said" That is fucked up! " for many people and I have never regreted it. My boggle is " would any of you do the same for me?" I know that alot of you would sit and talk with me and make me feel a little less alone in this world but how many of you would jump in and say something before the moment was over? Not after the dust settles but as it gets stirred up. Just a thought.
