Mono

If you missed Mono at the Pilot Light on Friday make a note to never miss them again. Not strictly in the genre I suppose but fabulous music is fabulous music. 2 guitars, bass, and a drummer who took the stage and I mean took the stage. There were no vocals and through the whole show they never spoke one word to the crowd or to one another. It was as if they didn't know one another until they started to play and you knew they were communicating totally through the music. By the end of the show the 2 males (bass and lead) were writhing on the stage with their instruments. The female guitar player, slender and beautiful from the black hair hanging in her eyes to the strappy red sandals on her feet, who moved barely at all was emanating so much power you could almost see it in the air. The music went from haunting streams of notes to loud crashing drum and guitar feeding back on itself to build layers and layers of sensuous mezmerizing sound. The effect was so sensual it was almost pornographic. They didn't play the music it just came through them. When it was over they left the stage as silently as they arrived. Did I dream it?[/list]
