I'm starting to think that maybe we should have some sort of Gothic IQ test to become member of this board. This isn't an insult to anyone here...I just think that it would be amusing.

Hrmm.. How about extending it.. You get a licence to be Goth good for up to 6 months.. after which point you must be re-tested.. to ensure that the mainstream conservative bible-thumping majority hasn't claimed another victim.

And if you fail, you have to start wearing pastels and rhinestones, listening to Pop music, and drinking bottled water.

While I agree with the Gothic Learner's Permit...I'm not to sure if stupid goths are the greater evil compared to pastels, rhinestone, pop music, or bottled water.

It shouldn't be based just on IQ, as one can be intelligent, but not very fabulous. There should be some sort of fashion inspection as well. What about a drama giger counter? If you set if off, you gotta go.

IQ test, though? Maybe it would work better to give a 30 day preview, and if you're annoying, you're out. But I don't think anything like that would be approved because of the whole open community idea.

But still a nice thought. Look how many yes's and maybe's there are...

Speaking as a regular board member and a non-Goth, I don't think there should be anything to say you are/aren't Goth so you can't be a member. I've been on here for over a year and a half and have met LOTS of people who I do share similar interests in but I love pastels and rhinestones and even good pop music.

I'm far from being your everyday "normal" but I don't quite fit into the Goth label....I'm a Libby and that's it. I'd hate to think I could ever be booted from the board for not being "Goth".

If I read into all that the wrong way, I'm sorry.

I have to agree with Libby, even tho I do think this is kinda a joke seeing as how it's in the Dumpster.

I'm not goth, I'm just me.

And as far as the annoying and or dramatic people go...you would have to get rid of at leatse 70% of the board, then.

OK...Here's my new proposal...For the board there should be a Gothic IQ Test...Kinda "Test Your Gothic Knowledge". It would be simple questions like..."Name one movie starring Vincent Price." & "Which one of the following is concidered a "goth" band?:A)Korn B)Halls & Oats C)Bauhaus D)Pink Floyd". Things like that. As far as the Gothic Scene Learners Permit...That should be a three part test.

Part 1: Fashion. If you don't have the most obvious knowledge of the fashion, well, you just are not going to fit in. Miz_Kitty, this one's yours.

Part 2: Knowledge. This will be determined off of the KnoxGothic IQ test. This on's up for grabs.

Part 3: Music. This is what it's all about right. I think this one should be JC's.

If you refuse to take these tests...so be it, since it is just a joke in the first place...Don't be offended. If you do , though, You can gain you Gothic Learners Permit...For 6 months you are not allowed to frequent any "scene event (Sanctus, The End, Temple...ect)" without a Gothic escort. After that 6 month probationary period...You're GOTH!...

Sweetie there's no way anything like that would ever really be done. You know we're sarcastic, but still friendly, to be sure. I think our community is very special in the way we make new folks feel welcome & include all different types & tastes. Our strength is our diversity. Any attempt to exclude others invokes the whole elitism thing, & I'm never for that.
