HUNTER THOMPSON RIP

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

HUNTER THOMPSON RIP

Post by doctorthoss »

Hunter S. Thompson, probably the most celebrated journalist in American history and counterculture icon, committed suicide today in Aspen. He apparently shot himself, but the investigation is still in its early stages.
Thompson was the author of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "Hells Angels," "The Great Shark Hunt," "The Rum Diary" and thousands of articles and columns.
He was the last of the 1960s counterculture authors to pass away, and easily the best of the lot.
For two generations of journalists (yours truly included) he was an inspiration and probably the figure most responsible for us choosing our careers.
A lot of people will be in mourning for the next few days.

I hate that saying: "You can't have your cake and eat it too."

Because what's the point of having cake when you aren't able to savour and enjoy every tastey morsel it has to offer you.....
