Dozens die and no one posts about it!

Post by Scorptrio »

In separate, single incidents last month, dozens of people died in Nepal and China, and no one posted about it!

In related news, about 40 died in London and some how we're supposed to think it's a big deal. I guess some people and their deaths are more important than other people and their deaths.

people die everyday
making another thread about doesnt make you look right, it makes you look like an ass.

Bill Clinton wrote:people can talk about terrorism till they are blue in the face, but if we published the real obitiuaries for all the deaths in NYC in an average day... well i think the things that make the news would change

this one made news because its one of our allies.
we dont really care about nepal or china.
they dont have a tony blair to our bush thats on our TV all the fucking time.
and that china link isnt even terror related, the nepal link was a local group.
someone attacks london on the day of a summit thats different.
but again, in a quest to be viewed as correct, the details are lost that would cause such an assertion.

My point exactly

Post by Scorptrio »

Thank you JC for making my point for me again. If you're not one of our allies, we don't care. If it wasn't a terrorist related death, we don't care. So, some lives and deaths are more important than others, and if you died from an accident or at the hands of your own people, you're not worth mentioning.

It's human nature.

In WW1, more people died from a worldwide flu pandemic than died from all the fighting combined. A lot more (I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that the flu took millions more than the war. Correct me if i'm wrong.)

What was getting more headlines in 1917.......the flu, or the Kaiser? Not saying it's right, but it doesnt matter if you are selling advertising on a cable news network in 2005 or newspapers on a streetcorner in 1917....the more spectacular, gory stuff will sell more.

Exactly! Thank you SOMEONE for seeing the point. I can find a story in the news every day where 40 or so people died somewhere, of something. The question people should be asking themselves is, why do I care about one group of people dying and not about another group dying? As long as people care more about the politics than the people, death will continue to rule the day.

Sorry, dude, but kareyukky fucking sucks!

As far as ppl being killed/dying/etc......it's horrible.....tragic! Doesn't matter if it's some gramma dying of old age, some dad dying of cancer, some kid dying of starvation, some person dying of a terroist attack......they ALL have someone that loves them......they all have someone that is going to hurt by their death. The way is see it....no one person's death is more important than another person's death. We are all JUST humans. We live, we shit, we die. Some deaths might be more tragic or more horrific than others, but we all, STILL, will die.....one way or another.

Death is a fact of life.....the moment we are born, we begin to die!

All death is necessary.....regardless of circumstances....it is necessary. May be sad.....may be tragic.......still necessary. A fact of life. My heart still goes out to the people that love those that have died.

Yes, I have decided to ban the news. If its important enough, I'll hear about it.

I'm reading a book that discusses how the media raises our anxiety levels to sell newspapers, magazines or get our attention for commercials and I say FUCK THAT. I don't need more stress that results in them making money. Once you realize how they do that to you, it really makes you think.

I was at my grandma's earlier and watched the news for a minute or two-

It went from discussing the thing in London to "how much are we at risk for terrorist attack in the US" to "how easy is it to leave a backpack bomb on a bus" to some guy saying "its not a matter of IF, it's WHEN" and it was just ridiculous.

Statistically, we are all at greater risk driving to and from work everyday or dying from skin cancer, but the brain doesn't grasp statistics so we freak out and Bush gets more morons to turn a blind eye to his moronic manner of running the country because he drops words like "terrorism" and "9/11".

Damn...beat me to it

Here is my theory of the London Bombings though....It has NOTHING to do with Iraq, of the G8 or anthing like that.....it has to do with something MUCH MORE IMPORTANT!

Do you think it is a coincidence that the bombings occur the day after London is anounced as the next host city for the Olympics.

In this light, it is obvious who the villanous party resposible is....

NEW YORK CITY!!!!

Yep...that's right....Think about it and you KNOW it to be true.

As further proof, Israeli Inteligence informed the Brittish of the impending attack shortly before it happened....How did they know?

Well....which city among all those in the running to be the Olympic Host city has the highest Jewish Population and thus is the most closely watched?

NEW YORK CITY!!!!

If only those poor Brits knew how DANGEROUS New Yorkers can be...they might have heeded the warnings of those wise and well informed Israeli Inteligence Officers....but NO...they were too slow and stupid.....They only support Our Own King George II because he reminds them of their own line of King Georges.

:okfucktard:

.........ok....I'm Sorry.....I can only be this stupid for so long before my head starts to hurt.....so I'll just stop right here. :cat:

Yep...that's right....

I might find it easier to care, if I knew that a single one of those people dead actually had an active brain cell.

As it is, well, as the old saying goes, "better them than I."

Big Events (tm) make news. Big Events (tm) are things that qualify as having entertainment value and lasting appeal. Things you can keep talking about and guessing about while the real investigative work is still going on. Big Events (tm) are events you can discuss ad nauseum while waiting on the actual answers (ie: news) to surface.

The bombings in London qualify as a Big Event(tm) because it allowed every reporter to speculate and draw conclusions and ask Subject Matter Experts their opinions while concerned aurdiences world wide wait with baited breath. God forbid you cover other stories while waiting for the facts to come out. People might tune out.

NOTE: This has not been a sarcastic rant about loss of life and the shallow cowardly acts of murderers. This has been a sarcastic rant about how our media chooses to report opinion and hypothetical possibilities instead of reporting fact. Thank you and good night.
