Cross-posting from my blog because I'm lazy like that:
If you listened to this week's podcast, you heard me briefly mention an upcoming benefit single by a ton of artists (Islands, Beck, Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Postal Service... tons more) called, "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?" Well, the single won't be available for purchase until early October (the 4th for digital download, the 11th for CD and 12" Vinyl), but Vice has put up a little flash movie where you can listen to the whole thing.
It is absolutely awesome. Totally fun, and extremely funny, it's great to hear all of these artists goofing around for a good cause. One of my favorite parts is the part with comedian, David Cross, going, "Guys? Cut it out... it's not funny anymore..." The lyrics (along with a kind-of-sort-of guide to who's singing what), press release, and complete credits are also all at the site, so go check it out.
I'm definitely getting this when it comes out. It's totally fun, plus it helps out an organization I support.

Do They Know It's Hallowe'en
The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.
