Workshop: Making felted/yarn hair falls

I do a lot of textile arts, spinning weaving and natural dyeing and felting, knitting... and I saw a post on the crafty goth forum that reminded me of a project I want to do in the near future:

Would anybody be interested in doing a hair falls workshop sometime in the next month... I've got a lot of funky spinning fibers and tons of yarn and trim and if everyone brought stuff it would be like the stone soup selection of items for us to create falls from.

We could take some of the wool fiber and felt up some dreadlocks, etc.

I'm fine working on my own, but was willing to do a group project if there were interest. It would need to be on a weeknight if possible - or a Sunday evening.

Karla Boo - The tutorial looked great!

Comments on the Tutorial...:

The soap I use for all my felting is Dawn Dish soap. The degreasing element in it enhances the felting process and is widely used by professional felters.

I would like to also try taking some cut-up squares of grass mat that we use for felting to see how they would roll up - although that may be a waste of time as her technique seemed to yield very smooth and consistent cylinders (no sense reinventing the wheel) her technique is also less messy and would allow multiple people to work with minimal equipment...

Thanks Hardcoregirl for recommending the space...If it is possible to do this at Wasted Potential that would be an excellent central location everyone is familiar with-and we could get some shopping in on the side!

After the Tango workshop was over on Sunday I picked up some purple wool at Earth Guild in downtown Asheville to use in this upcoming workshop that can be used to make some hair falls...

They have all different colors - it's the "Wilde Wool Batts" no pun intended - really! (Wilde is the name of the company- they also sell yarns....and a batt is a combed out chunk of wool - you can order it online as well: A half pound will give you plenty to work with if you are adding other stuff to your fall - they have more colors available online - Here's the link:
