Vacations
Vacations
Ok, I've been trying to plan a vacation for a few weeks...but the slight problem is that I don't know where to go. Since, I know how much you kids looove to travel...I thought I would see what you think. Now there are a few guidelines...
1. It has to be Southeast, but it can include Mexico and all islands in the South Eastern US region.
2. It has to have a beach within a 20 minute drive distance.
3. There must be lots of places to consume alcohol.
Discuss.

Playa Del Carmen. I would like to plan a vacation there myself later this year.
It's just 50 miles south of Cancun. It's cheap and you can live like a king for a week. It's right next to the beach, and they even have a pool-bar!

I don't really want to spend more than 700...andwe are only looking at going for 3 or 4 nights.
Well there isn't really anywhere decent to go to in the SouthEast, now the Southwest, the Northwest and hell, just West is the best place.
Already got that covered. I turn 21 over Christmas break next year. What's that smell?
Vegas.

I'm partial to the suncoast of Florida just below Sarasota. The rooms are cheaper and the beach is cleaner but in 1.5 hours you can be in Ybor City in Tampa to party. I would avoid Myrtle Beach unless you like tourist traps.

Vegas.
Vegas sucks. Its like pigeon forge/gatlinburg on steroids. Casinos the size of malls and shows that cost 100 bucks to see.
The only cool things were the freebie newspapers that here, sell real estate, but there, advertise hookers, lol. And you can walk down the street with your margarita.
Yea...we'd like to stay in the country to try to catch a few good concerts...Although, we have thought about a crusie...but I'm really freaked out by being on a boat that long...
Shit, that's the only reason I want to go. Well, that and the free drinks in the casino.

I beg to differ. Vegas is a BLAST, if you know where to go & what to do. Those of you that have been on here for awhile remember me posint on here (about 3 years ago) from Vegas when I was there for a week.....and I found a really cool Goth night on the outskirts of town @ a cool little club...met some really cool folks from Cali too. Vegas can be really fun & inexpensive if you know how to do it. But, in your case I would go somewhere else. I am planning on taking a vacation here in a few months.....also a trip to Chicago & NY....but ive been looking into those all inclusive resorts...and I know quite a number of people that have used them. They are located all over (Virgin Islands, ect.) and for one price you get everything.....drinks, food...all you want. All the basics are included....fishing, diving, ect. They usually run about $700-$800 a piece for about 5 days. Try this one for starters: http://www.sandals.com/
I know its kinda being a sell-out, but ive heard alot of good things. Im planning that myself, simply becaouse I work about 70 hrs a week and I just want to go somewhere tropical and sit on the beach and drink & eat and not be nickled & dimed to death....and do NOTHING! There are definately cooler places to go, by no means.....but for what it is, it could be cool.

Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA on the east coast are cool if you like old shit. I personally love the architecture, but I'm not sure they have too much night life. Myrtle Beach was a big tourist trap, but we did 5 days on a $650 budget and still stayed on the beach. If you do end up in Myrtle Beach, DO NOT go on spring break, which apparently lasts all through the month of April!
If you go to Florida, St.Augustine is the oldest city in the country, so it would definitely have lots of history, just don't know if it was affected by the hurricane.
Have fun, wherever you go!

I grew up in Ft. Walton Beach FL. It's still small enough to be less costly than other places. And it has a few watering holes.
If you go here, you MUST stay on Okaloosa Island
And the 3 big party hotels on the Island are:
The Ramada Inn
1500 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE, Fort Walton Bch, FL
(850) 243-9161
The Blue Horizon Motel
1120 Santa Rosa Blvd
Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548
(850) 244-5186
Holiday Inn Sunspree Resorts
(850) 244-5926
(850) 244-8686
573 Santa Rosa Blvd
Fort Walton Bch, FL 32548
they have photos too.....

Granted these are OLD hotels. I used to cruise them in the summer in the early-mid 80's and they are both right on the beach, and there are plenty of awsome restaurants nearby. This part of florida is known for their shrimp and grouper.
But they are packed with college kids all summer and there are always parties... Just go up and down the elevator and get off a the floor that has the music blasting.
And they are not so uptight about liquor laws... one of my favorite places was Robinsin's Cruize through...a drive through liquor store...
It's called Robinsons Crusie Thrill now...
104 Ferry Road Northeast,
Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548
(850) 243-8617
There is a nifty shack of a restaurant..you know... the kind where you throw peanuts on the floor ......it's on the underside of Brooks Bridge (on the mainland side).... that's the bridge that goes into Fort Walton Beach.
I think this is it:
Rick's Crab Trap
203 Brooks St SE
Fort Walton Beach, FL
Phone: (850) 664-0110
Some Bars are as follows (I pulled the reviews off a 10 best website...)
Swamp
1450 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE Fort Walton Bch, FL 32548 (850) 796-1300
One of the area's hottest clubs, the Swamp is also one of the newest. Disneyesque in its appeal, the venue has trails that wind through landscapes of old tires, wooden shacks, and whiskey barrels. There's even a moat and a waterfall. Located right on the beach, the Swamp can hold 1500 people and entertains them with live music, DJ-spun dance tunes, and five bars. The place is a tribute to bayou culture, and patrons flock to it for the innovative surroundings and expansive space. It's a perfect club for mingling and wandering around. You'll never get bored, and you're likely to meet some cool new friends. Must be 18 to enter; shirts required. No food is served.
Hog's Breath Saloon
(850) 837-5991
541 Highway 98 E
Destin, FL 32541
"Hog's Breath Is Better Than No Breath At All"
This local hang-out looks like it's had its share of loving over the years. In classic bar style, it sports dark wood, brass rails and neon beer signs, but you know you're at the beach by the surfboards suspended overhead. Very laid-back, it always entertains a gang at the bar, and at night, patrons gather to play pool and listen to live bands. Rock music and cover tunes are most popular, but you'll also hear blues, jazz, and island music. Inside, several levels corral bar-goers, but if you don't like the cigarette smoke, there's an outdoor deck. The place also serves food, including appetizers, steaks, seafood and sandwiches. Raw bar, too.
Nighttown
140 Palmetto St, Destin, FL 32541 · 850-837-6448
Inside this metal, warehouse-like building, the night takes hold and so does the fun. Patrons come to show off their favorite dance moves, and music of all genres plays for them to do so. When they're drenched in sweat, the bar serves up cold beer and frosty drinks to bring down the temperature. TVs are tuned to sporting events for those who just want to hang out, and pool tables provide welcome distraction and perhaps a little friendly competition. The club isn't on the main drag but isn't too hard to locate either, and once you're there, you'll find enough to keep you occupied until the wee hours come.
This is probably more info than you wanted...sorry got all nostalgic...

St. Augustine is nice, but I just went there last summer for a week to see my parents.
Thanks for all of the info. I wasn't sure what all inclusive meant...but I have looked at a lot of places like that...which run pretty cheap for 2 adults. We aren't going to be spending a lot on shopping or anything. We just want to go somewhere where we can relax, and not be upset about our hotel...That has happened waaay too many times.

Savannah haz a kickin' nightlife ... & all that beauty & Old World charm 2 boot ... There'z River Street & City Market filled with restaurauntz & barz (all within walking distance) ... Plus haunted tourz n eveningz, & a generally festiv atmosphere ... Only 15 minz from Tybee & Wilmington Islandz (not the best beachez, but a fun place 2 get away) ... I recommend staying downtown or even midtown ...
4 better beachez with nightlife, I recommend Southern FLA ... I prefer the Atlantic coast ... or there'z alwayz the Keyz ...
