No more Diet Coke for me...
I'm really not much of a health freak, but
this video, although it's 1.5 hours long, is worth watching... I'm sure most people weren't informed that 10% of Aspartame, an artificial sweetener in tons of shit, is methanol, which is a fucking deadly poison... It's a little fucked up that companies fail to mention that on the ingredient labels... I've also heard some horrid shit about high fructose corn syrup, which is in practically everything manufactured to "save money"... Paranoia or no, I think it's all for population control... why else would they just throw unnecessary shit into products that we use everyday... Deodorant, for example... like fucking aluminum is really a must to prevent armpit reek? But hey, I can't really say anything, I still use Secret deodorant because it smells good, drink Powerade, and occasionally drink soda... but I will probably be doing it alot less now... So yeah, going off into random tangents now, haha...

Ok, had to wake up a little... It may not be full blown killing everyone off (you can't just look at someone and determine the cause of death to be mass consumption of soda everyday for 10 years), but it is at least subtly working if you look at all of the evidence. I think people should know what they're ingesting/putting on their bodies/whatever, rather than be fucking lied to about it by the government (like everything else). And yeah, Knoxville's air quality is pretty shitty, but unfortunately that's everywhere nowadays...

That plan already went into effect.

Yeah..I'm one of those weirdos that eats organic and all natural foods. I don't really eat any"normal" foods. I shop at Natures Pantry and Earthfare. Ingles and Krogers also carry a nice selection of organic too. I don't eat artificial flavors, I don't eat high fructose corn syrup. I don't eat trans fats, I don't eat inorganic meats, eggs, and dairy (with produce it depends). I actually don't eat normal sugar, I eat xilitol or fructose. I don't eat fast food (and chick fil a really is just as bad as the others, sorry folks)

When you're young, and into your early 30s, your body is still able to cope with the shit you're ingesting... but as you get older the body is not capable... The best thing you can do is drink water, tons and tons of water, and try to eat healthy. It is very hard to be in society and eat the way I do, but I manage. I also make all of my sons baby food from produce in the garden, or from earthfare.

Ok, I know all sorts of crap about why you should eat healthy. I was vegan for like 3 years. My mother is a RN and I have also worked for years under herbalists and folks trained in natural medicines and such and I think that a large portion of the "health" type industry is a load of crap. Meant to scare you and get your money...
We are all gonna die. Sadly, the sooner the better is probably the best for the earth. If we were dying at such alarming rates, there wouldn't be groups like http://www.zpg.org/
The top two causes of death are heart disease and lung disease....both in many and most cases preventable. And we still aren't knocking off at alarming rates, lol. I don't smoke cigarrettes and I put on spf 45 or more when I go into the sun, and I try to think about how my car affects global warming and the air quality..and thats about as much as I'm gonna worry about it. I don't want to die before I get my son raised, but after that I hope I don't live an excessive long time and drain other peoples Social Security benefits and tax dollars.
I totally suffer from a lot of anxiety and I just think its quite silly for people to worry so much about some things, especially government conspiracies.
Here's some links-but of course, Snopes and then all scientific agencies are probably paid off by the government to show such findings, because you know, scientists have no ethics or integrity...< / sarcasm >
And of course I know statistics can be skewed to say whatever they want to say...but what can I say, I don't believe everything I hear.

Like I said, i'm far from a health freak. I eat pizza (the kind with weird ass chemicals in it) too often, I could eat it every day of my life, and sometimes I do. I eat too much junk, and I only eat fruit n vegetables once a month, if that. I don't buy special health products besides vitamins n sometimes a few other things, I rarely go to health food stores. I went recently only to get some fucking baklava if that tells you anything. I realize we're all going to die no matter what, and i'm not anxious about government conspiracies, but i'm not going to lie to myself about their existence. Whether they are deliberately putting shit in our food or not (and if they're not up to anything, could someone tell me WHY they put such harmful shit in food that doesn't NEED to be in it? Don't tell me it's to "save money".), i'd rather know about it than be completely oblivious to the fact that i'm fucking poisoning myself. I'm sure everyone would rather die of natural causes than slowly poison themselves their whole lives (ok, I admit to binge drinking at times, being an ex-chain-smoker etc, but uh, that's off the subject...) I read that snopes link, and really I find it hard to believe that aspartame isn't dangerous. I'm pretty sensitive to what I put into my body, and I have actually felt ill while drinking Diet Coke compared to any other regular drinks, and felt better when I stopped (no, i'm NOT just saying that to prove a point, and this was before watching that shit yesterday) My stepmom's a Diet Coke junkie, all she drinks, and I wouldn't say she's the healthiest person around. Also, having 2 aunts that use products containing aspartame, Donna with MS and Dorothy with fibromyalgia, I think they would be alarmed to know that it's a possibility that that's one of the reasons that shit is going on. Yeah, that link said MS isn't a "death sentence", but it would sure fucking blow to have it, and from Donna's condition I don't think there's much she can do about it besides suffer. Back to the main topic, Whether the aspartame video is 100% on the mark or not, i'd rather believe that than believe anything else about the chemical. It was just introduced in what, 1984? It's 2006, and it usually takes quite a while for everyone to find out the REAL side effects of what we're being given... we ARE "just" fucking labrats you know?
<sigh>
People can be so silly.
EVERYTHING you eat is chemicals. "Natural" does not change this. And methanol being used in the process of manufacturing some food product does not make it toxic.
Don't forget, botulism toxin is natural. Fecal coliform bacteria are natural. Poison ivy is natural.
That being said, aspartame is nasty. I can't believe something so foul-tasting could be used in a food product, and I don't understand how so many people can stand the taste.
I'll take good old refined bleached white sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup, thanks.

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

If you watch the video (I kind've doubt anyone has, it IS a fucking hour and a half long, lol) it talks about how although methanol is natural (it's in fruit etc.), in it's natural state it's processed by the body correctly with pectin, digested easily n all that shit. In aspartame, it actually converts to formaldehyde (yummm...) and can't pass through the body. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't think I wanna drink embalming fluid... ugh...

haha, there are alot of things that are natural that are shit for you... I don't eat them either. I personally notice the taste difference (as do many others) and I feel better, and fuller with less portions. We do all die one day, but I'm more concerned with the condition that I die in. Cancer really isn't a walk in the park, so I'd like to reduce the amount of crap I ingest as much as possible. Eat whatever you all want, I'm not really concerned with your alls health. As for me, I like alot of the organic foods so I'm willing to pay the extra dollar. I will tell you what I've noticed differently about me since I started eating organic and using organic products...
I feel better, like I don't have alot of anxiety and I am generally a better person with a better outlook on life.
I look better. I've had a baby, but there are alot of things about me that look considerably better than before. My skin for example, is smoother (I moisturize with pure vitamin E now, or shea butter) and I use natural face cleanser. It's really made a difference, I get alot of compliments on my skin now.
I don't eat as much. After having my son I had a huuugee appetite and I could put most guys on here to shame. I mean I could put away 3 hamburgers like that. It was sick. Well, I can't just do that and expect to stay thin so if I eat say a bison burger, I do good to finish half of it. I go to earthfare and eat off the hotbar alot... and I'm full for the entire day. I'd say I spend about 8 dollars and I've got my lunch and dinner right there. That's probably the same as you'd spend at mcdonalds on a value meal. I eat less, I feel just as full... and guilt free. I've spoken to doctors about the benefits and the "hype" with organic foods. He explained alot of it to me, but ultimately said that it was more healthy to go that route. I don't expect others to join in, that's their choice and it's not my problem if they don't.. but I enjoy this lifestyle and I feel better for it. Call it a placebo if you want, but it's working and that's what counts.
