Erm... until there is undisputed proof that evolution *is* indeed how we got here, I don't see why not. And before I go any further, let's not make this a evolution vs creationism discussion.
All I am saying is, that if one particular version of how we got here is taught in schools (or national parks) why not all of them, or better yet, I find it perfectly acceptable for them to say, "We just don't know"... because who really does? No one was there with a journal to write what happened all down.

I'm sorry. But this is censorship of geological facts. This isn't teaching the theory of evolution in school. This is making people say they don't know that the grand canyon was formed millions of years ago when the studies have been done to prove that fact. This is disinformation at its worst. Making people ignore facts because it doesn't fit into your religious agenda is wrong! End of story.
I have no problem with religion or religious people. If you want to believe that the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's Ark. Fine. But that doesn't change the fact that geologists have spent years and years to come up with the real answer as to how old the Grand Canyon is. I don't ask for silly things like "In God We Trust." to be removed from currency. So please, don't fuck up scientific data for religious agendas.

I believe our dinosaur riding ancestors would disagree with you...

Edited to add: Aw phooey. I should have known something that rich would be Onion variety spoofisms. Disregard. Back to our elected spoof of a President...

And what facts might those be? Carbon Dating? Congrats, you found out how old the dirt in the canyon is. The rest is theory.... *NOT* fact.

Again... this didn't need to go to one of these debates, I am simply stating that no one human can really say how the Grand Canyon got there, they have no proof one way or the other. Now if they push the park into saying that the flood of Noah's time caused the canyon, I'd be just as biased on that as well. No one really knows, so why even pretend by theory that we actually know.

Wow, this is a whole new level of retardation.
There is NO way that a river could create something that deep in what, 6 thousand years?
What about fossils found there of creatures that are older than that? What god put them there to test your faith?
How about geologists who spend their lives studying how soils and rocks are formed and the speed at which they erode?
I'm sorry but anyone who thinks it was caused by one 40 day flood is a fucking moron.
Unfucking believable.

Ditto!
I vacationed there with my family when I was 15 & there was no censorship of the geologic facts. It was a fantastic experience & very informative. Its such a shame that the same experience is now censored for the visitors.
Geology & evolution aren't some kooky ideas a handful of science nuts have come up with. Its the product of careful, peer reviewed analysis of facts to derive hypotheses, which must then stand the tests of time & further scientific scrutiny to become theory. That's the highest any idea can go without a time machine.
Intellectual censorship sucks!

That's because it was aliens, duh! Our brilliant martian overlords (hailz! plz don't kill me oh great ones) carved the canyon out with their giant lazerbeams attached to their ships. You can't prove it didn't happen! I'm going to pitch a hissy fit until the grand canyon bookstore carries my personal favorite title: "The Grand Canyon (or how our martian overlords will one day return to rule over us and all you suckers will be wishing you had listened!)"
If you're going to throw religion into a scientific matter, you've got to include all of them.
If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.

Ditto...
- Flying Spaghetti Monster
- Scientology (which is close to what you just described)
- God made it
- And it all happened by chance
All of the above are just as flawed/proven as the other... so again, just saying we honestly don't know would be closer to the truth.

I thought the "duh" was that I equate the possibility of the grand canyon being carved out by aliens with that of a great flood that washed everything away just 6000 years ago. They can't be proven AT ALL, while the possibility that the canyon was carved over millions of years by water erosion has a bit more scientific fact to it. I should have been more clear, I suppose.

Once again, throwing out scientific evidence because something doesn't fit into your religious view is wrong. Geologists don't just pull random numbers out of their ass when determining the date of something. And again, this is not about evolution vs. religion. This is about censorship of scientific data.

On the same note, this is the administration that is censoring information about climate change. Is global warming happening? We might never know because data is being withheld or altered if it looks bad on the current government.
