I have tons of New Yard. My fingers are itchin' to dig, Dig, DIG.
A few things I would like to do:
* Give the children their own garden space. Just small enough to plant a few things(flowers? Berries?).
* We need to terrace some of the back yard. There's some erosion going on back there. My mom suggested planting melon there and it would spill over the terracing and creep down. Does that sound right to you?
* I'm DYING for an heirloom pumpkin garden. Thanks to last year's Martha Halloween issue. Some of the ones I want are here:

All of the flowers I've looked at that I want are Blue, Purple, or Silver. I would have NEVER guessed that. Hmmmm.
It's that time of year. Whatcha plantin'?

I kind of stick to container gardening since i'm in an apartment, but I dream of a veggie garden.
And then I dream of canning pickles, tomatoes, green beans and salsa like my aunts and grandmother do every year.
I know sunflowers are good for kids to grow, I actually have a book that suggests planting them in a circle, then planting a vining plant over it and it makes it into a little outdoor playhouse.
I suggest anyone into gardening to down to the UT Agricultural Gardens on Neyland drive by the river. Gorgeous...they even have lotus flowers that I drool over.
I am thinking of ordering seeds, maybe some from burpee.com. If anyone wants to go in with me to save on shippin' let me know.
I cleaned up my plants and emptied out the dead stuff from last year...now I just need to decide what I want and how much I'm willing to do, lol.

I think thats my favorite thing about vegetable gardens...there is always so much you must share with others. When I visit my grandparents in the summer I always come home with bags of tomatoes, squash, zucchini and cucumbers.
I'll take some seeds offa yer hands. Except corn. I can't imagine growing corn by an apartment complex.

big ass carpender bees!
see, they dont attack or try to sting,
they're jsut so damned inquizzitive,
i cant step outside without them swarming and buzzing around me,
and i hate bugs landing on me,
specialy when i'm consentrating,
i'm gonna try some mothballs in nylons placed stratigicly around/under the deck,
if that doesnt work, i'll jsut put a big peice of wood, with lots of 1" holes (3-4" deep) all over it with special stuff you buy to put in them, which kills them,
(that one works because they investigate to see if other holes are being occupied by other bees)
i dont want to kill them, theyre nice bees, but i cant have them buzzing all over me while i'm soldering or trying to mix and pour resin.. ya know?
