I know the difference between Goth and Industrial Clangy Goodness, but I always lumped NIN and SP in with Goth more because of the majority of their fan base is of the "gawth" persuasion.
But then again, labels suck donkey nads anyway. What does it matter?...

Thanx for posting that, Karla. I thought it was a good article. It's quite unusual to find an article about "goth" that doesn't slam the scene.
In fact," says Black, "it is very difficult to find anything that we would all agree upon."
Afuckingmen!!!!

and i quote "These days, the goth and industrial scenes are so closely associated, even experts are hard-pressed to define what goth is. "It really can't be summed up simply," says Scary Lady Sarah, a popular Chicago DJ and promoter. "If there's a common thread, it's the mood — a melancholy feel, a darkness. But it's not something you can pinpoint very easily." (Britt)
the author said that NIN and the others were industrial rock. he just was setting an example the difrerence between 1979 to th early '90s.

Yes. Of course. Pardonnez moi.
Because you know, we need to exact labels upon ourselves. It's the American way.
Well, if it's OK with you, I want my own snap-tight Tupperware compartment. I'm not into sharing.
does anyone else think this "what is gawth, what isn't" conversation needs to roll over and die?

I don't know that I've met one. They're either very shy, or they're NINJAS!

You'll have to poke holes in it for air.

yes....Im so fukking sikk of the stapleheaded goth persuasion "Im so Goth" or the Uber-Goth "better than you" bullshit that goes on here
Personally if you don't know what you are then you have bigger issues than what your preferred stereotype is..go watch some Mtv or something and leave it alone...
“That proves you are unusual, returned the Scarecrow; and I am convinced the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed.â€

What are you talking about? I said NIN and Skinny Puppy are industrial bands not goth bands. As in thier music. MMMMMMUUUUUUUSSSSSIIIIIIIIICCCCCCC. Wasn't even talking about people at all.
And KarlaBoo, I do agree with the articles qoutes from Rosenthal and others but I think he should have done more homework before writing that article. Metroplois is not the preeminent Goth label. Mostly have Industrial bands. Then he says Siouxsie and Ministry were some of the founding Goth bands and NIN,Skinny Puppy, and Front 242 were the next wave of goth bands(they are industrial and Ministry has been around one year more than Skinny Puppy). The qoutes from others are nice buit he(the writer) is a dumbass.
