Karma.

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

If you follow the rules of karma, even if it's just to cover your own ass, does that make you a good person?

Yes.

Honestly, I think Karma is a Celestial way of keeping us in line...A way to...As BDL & Storme said...'balance' everything...Neutrality is as ficticious as most the Celestial beings that humanity crutches upon...*No insult intended*...We can never acheive the concept of neutrality...Therefore, we have invented the idea of a balencer...Karma...I think that enough people believe in one idea...It becomes fact...Mass-conscienceness Manifestation...Or at-least becomes fact on earth...Who knows about the here-after...But...topic...Karma...If we believe in Karma...We believe that good things will happen if we do good things...So they do...Or at least we percive it as such...So, the reverse is true, also...Bad things happen to people...When they do bad things...While I believe in it, that is only because i cannot escape it...No sense in dening the innevitable...Like dening death...It's still gonna get you...But maybe...Just maybe, if we deny hard enough...We can cheat anything..........But in the end...FACT IS FACT....AND WE ALL MUST FACE UP TO IT!!!

BTW...Saying that I don't know you, Kit...Does not erase my memory...That is rediculious...But I'm not here to fight...Or even defend myself..Because at this point, it's useless...I said all I needed to...And if all of you think that what I said is an attack...any of you...Know that it's not...I don't want this to become a point on this thread...So if any of you have anything else to say to me...You can PM me...

Side Note: The referanced to the Celestial where not a reference to Celestial Dung...Though the quotes themselves could be mistaken for them...lol....

i have to agree that "good" and "bad" are human concepts, but it's easier to explain shortly than trying to explain that there really is no difference, it's just opposite sides of the same coin... :D

I would have to say the moral values held by Karma (why do you talk about karma as if it is a being?) are so awesome compared to the moral values held by right wing conservatives. 8-)

I think that we are all aware that karma is not a being...moving on from that minor insult to the intelligence of the people on this board...Most right winged conservatives wouldn't be caught dead saying the word "Karma"...However...the rules of karma are in the Holy Bible as well as other places. It's kind of like a checks and balances system...if you fuck X many people over in Y mannor...Z is the karma that is placed back on you. There is no escaping karma...except in Christianity...Why? Because karma is not law...it is more what can happen to people...but GOD can forgive you and everything can be peachy motherfucking keen.

It all boils down to the subconcious...and the higher subconcious. Just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist...or that it's not there...It just doesn't effect you...this is of course if you TRULY don't think it exists...

Take reality for example...You can take all of the drugs in the world...party your ass off...and never have a job...it doesn't mean that life as we know it doesn't exist. All it means is that you are no longer letting it effect you...so you no longer notice nor acknowledge its presence...

I think what we should be asking is "Are there loop hoples out of Karma...minus Christanity...?"

I think that, that shows the Right-Wing point of veiw...To be everything good...More than it shows anything to do with Karma...

Webster...

Hinduism & Buddhism. The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny.
Fate; destiny.

And while we are at it....
re·dun·dant ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-dndnt)
adj.
Exceeding what is necessary or natural; superfluous.

My point was...

Who decided that Karma was a force, & not the work of a being, other than ourselves...Isn't it just as possable that Karma is a tool for a higher being, & not just an independent force?...Also, in the veiws of Celestial Forces...Wouldn't God/gods be concidered 'Forces'...So then theoretically, couldn't Karma be a being...One that has no threads to reality...Though has constant play here?

Also, does Karma as a force really exist or is it merely true that people tend to mirror how you treat them, along with the fact that there are consequences for your actions and you will eventually have to face them, even if you manage to escape them for awhile?

Because sometimes you fuck over someone in a specific way and then a totally unrelated person who knows nothing of what you did fucks you over in the same way.

thats probably a coincidence. i mean bad shit happens to people who are basically good and vice versa.
also, if there is a force making them fuck you over because you fucked someone else over, doesn't that kind of eliminate free will if people are just controlled by some kind of mysterious "force"?

If free will does exist, people can choose to not fuck each other over. I don't think karma is as inflexible as gravity.

True, the idea of Karma does make a lot more sense and is much more believable if you look at it that way.

Let's look at a micro-cosm...'Instant-Karma', for example...You insult someone, then immediatly hit yourself in the head with a cabinet door...No real injury...Just pride...This is a little thing...So, as a homework assignment...lol...I want everyone to look for, & note the 'proof' of instant Karma...

Also, I don't think that Karma needs humans to do it's dirty work...Most of what I would call Karma, is self-inflicted...Hurting someone...Then slipping down the stairs...It need not be someone beating that person up...

Ok, another question:
Assuming the force of karma does exist, if you do "good" actions but only with the intent to receive rewards and avoid punishment and you believe this does not truly make you a good person, then is the action truly good enough that it will give you good karma?

So long as you truly aid other people in their lives, your motive is irrelevant. In fact, the entire idea that most motives can truly be comprehended at all is fairly dubious.
