And we have a new pope!

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

I disagree with the Catholic Church on many many issues, just as I disagree with most organized religions on many many issues. But the Pope's stance as progressive or conservative is an issue for Catholics themselves.

I don't like religous people telling me what to think. I certainly have no place telling them how to run their affairs. Just my 2 bits. Love the pic though

It effects everyone...Not everyone is an American citizen...But the presidency of George W. Bush effects the entire world...So.......

U.S. President is to Government
AS
Catholic Pope is to Religion

Won't be seeing that on any ACT's!

I'm not Catholic, and I mean no disrespect, but I have to admit the guy is kinda creepy looking. The Nazi thing disturbs me as well. As cool as the uniforms were, I don't agree with the cause. I'm just making an observation, for all I know he could be a stand up guy.

you do know the vitican was in league w/ the nazi's in ww2, right?
in fact there was a huge scandal over the vatican holding nazi gold after hitlers collapse. the pope frigging blessed the nazi campaign.
(but then, it could have been at gunpoint, who knows.)

On the one hand, that makes me want to go, "Grr! Stupid Nazi Catholics!" and then go burn down the nearest local cathedral, preferably while people are still in it.

On the other hand, white Americans owned slaves. That doesn't mean that white Americans still own slaves, or that they think that owning slaves is a Good Thing™, but rather that their ancestors had done so several generations ago. I'm not a big fan of the concept of inheriting the sins of the father (or from the mother, or from gay uncle bob, either.)

On the other, other hand (in which case, I'm a mutant, and should be on CNN and famous, you bitches! FAMOUS!) most organized religions have caused great pain and misery to any number of minorities, and some continue to this day. Go figure.
