What do you do when you have too much stuff? and you want more stuff, but don't have room?

Ebay.

I've got oodles to go,
I've been listing stuff for a couple days, and should be done listing all of it by sunday (monday latest)

everything has low starting prices, and no reserves,
also, if you want to pay only one dollar for shipping (for as much as you win), I should be in knoxville the 21st, and can bring things with me
(the dollar helps cover gas costs!)

my ebay id is thezkitten (linkage!)

That aviator cap is tempting me...
If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.

I'm not a pilot, and don't plan on being one..
I've tried saving most of the things I was left by my grandmother,
I do still have most of it (some jewelry, books, scarves, the family0 history),
but there's just some things I have no use for,

my grandma also hated anything(and I do mean anything) being wasted,
she was always donating anything extra we had to those who could use it,
or re-working old clothing into something new (i was diy at a very early age)
I think she would rather someone love and use the things she left, than have them sit in boxes.

I personally would rather someone totally love something I can't use, than have it sitting hidden, getting dusty and older.

See I'd keep the aviator hat before jewelry and scarves...i mean how many peoples grandma's were ballsy enough to learn to fly! I just think it has a neat story to it and maybe your potential grandkids or someone else in the family would like it? I mean I know how it is to have weird stuff that you keep just because it was someone in your familys. For example my great grandmother who died in 1992 collected toy stuffed tigers. So my grandma gave it to me the other day and I'm like "wtf am I going to do with that?"

I guess also that there aren't lots of cool family heirlooms like that in my family since 3 out of 4 grandparents weren't the oldest...so their siblings got most of the cool stuff.

I do have my grandpas fishing poles and his viewmaster from after WWII. And when my son is old enough he's getting his harmonica which I think is rad.

Well, I understand why but I'm still sorry to see people part with neat family possessions. Its the archaeologist in me...thinking every old thing has value..;).

oh, hellll no grandkids for me,:-x
theres a step before that, and THAT is not happening,
i'm just the eccentric aunt, and i'm happy to be that! 8-)
as for other family members wanting it? my mom said she was sending it to me, or throwing it out (as she does with alot of things) and my lil bro is so stuck up in computers he'd probably look at it funny.
which is why i am trying to make sure anything with history in my family gets the story put in the auction with it (so mayby those who buy it can tell the story to their prospective family ;) )

most of the important things, my ex threw out, but i do have alot of the good stuff, her handmade scarf, and an "automobile journal" a mini little book from the 10-20s that she (and her sisters) wrote in about where they went in their automobile! (they were on a farm, usually horse transportation) her favorite book of poetry, the sculpture native american boy made for her for teaching him english

i would have rather had some of the more personal things, like the journals from when she as younger, or some of her old notebooks from when she taught in the 40-50s (she taught english on reservations, and also special education classes ), or the sketches and notebooks of inventions my grandfather came up with or even better, the newspaper clippings of the things he did invent (not that i can remember what they were)

im also still trying to find an experienced knitter/crocheter who can finish the afghan that my grandmother never did (i just don't have the skills, i almost ruined it trying to finish it!)

oh i understand the value of older things, ;)
i had a bad habit of raiding the old abandoned burnt down houses near where i grew up, collecting old books that were in the fires and then in the elements for years, cleaning them, and seeing what treasures i found! using brushes to uncover odd shaped rocks in the backyard. i actually was the only person i knew who wanted to be an archaeologist when i was young, but i was steered away from that (quickly) to computers by my computer-guru mom!
